I was very disappointed with the service in the bar. We came in and first thing they said was no room for us, we were put in dining room. Came back later that evening and again sent to back of the bar in the dark, waited ages for a drink while barman stood around, then we had to ask if we could sit at bar in two empty seats!!! Begrudged paying service charge tbh :-(

I was so impressed with the Receptionust who completed the check-in process. (3pmish 19th Oct). She was very welcoming and professional. Advised of discounts regarding booking breakfast and had given us an upgrade to our room. When she realised it was a trip to celebrate our anniversary, she arranged for a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to be sent to the room. She was also responsible for arranging a last minute taxi as the weather was so awful - a feat in itself, as taxis were in high demand that night. Just a lovely young lady and such an asset to your front of house staff. I am only sorry I could thank her myself when checking out as she was off-duty. I would also like to mention the housekeeping lady who we met as she was just such a breath of fresh air and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was prepared and kept beautifully. Thank you, we will definitely be back and will be recommending The Gore to family and friends. Joy Kerr

Nice personnel, good breakfast. Poor voice isolation. First night couldn´t sleep because the conversation from the neigbouring room kept us awake. Second night two (luckily false) fire alarms woke us up.

Our room was on the top floor / attic. Small with a cramped bathroom. Whilst the taps and shower may well be in character with the hotel, they are old and difficult to control. I would return to the hotel, but I would chose my room more wisely.

Historic hotel with lots of 18/19th century art, steps away from the Royal Albert Hall and the Park. Bed was very comfortable. Ideal place to see a show at Royal Albert Hal and then retreat for one last drink at the hotel bar.

Upon arrival I was met with an overwhelming ‘air-freshener’ type smell. This was all around reception area & library area. Not pleasant. I arrived 25 mins before the 3pm check in. Paperwork was completed efficiently & was asked to wait in the library & was told I’d be collected for check in at 3pm. I waited until nearly 3.30pm at which point I approached reception where 4 members of staff were chatting. I asked if my room was ready - I was give my key & a man apologised for the wait. Not the best start. The room was clean, bright & a good size. However like other areas of the hotel it needed attention. The sink didn’t drain properly. The bath had to be filled using the shower head as the tap switch between bath & shower was broken. Big gap behind the headboard means pillows drop through. I really disliked the attempt to grab more money with the 12.5% extra service charge for the cleaning staff. Yes, the hotel was clean & I’m sure that team work hard. But it’s not right to try & sneak such charges on to the bill at the end. I wonder how many tourists get caught by this? Overall the hotel lacks attention to detail & whilst it was super convenient for my Royal Albert Hall concert, I wouldn’t choose to stay again.

If you are looking for something with traditional charm, this boutique is it! I didn't want a cookies cutter hotel that is the same world wide. The Gore is a beautiful, boutique hotel with astounding customer service. They really care about making your stay personalized and wonderful. The room was a smaller one, but with London standards, it was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and bedding were so comfortable as well. (My only small complaint, to no fault of the hotel is the Queens Gate side can be rather noisy during the night due to passers-by. So if you are really counting on a quiets night sleep, I would ask to be away from that side. ) Would definitely recommend and stay again.
