Beachy Keen House! This home is just one house up from the white sands of Sombrero Beach. Three bedrooms, two baths, a gorgeous kitchen, and open concept dining, and living room. Travertine floors through the home and out to the porch and stairway. French doors lead to the oversized (over 1,000 sf) porches off the main living areas for added outdoor entertaining with long canal views. Beautiful pool with large concrete sundeck. Deep water dockage with ocean access includes a 60-foot dock. Room for 2 boats and personal watercraft. Downstairs open-air living room. Brick paver driveway leading to the main entrance. Covered parking on one side.
As you walk through the open-air living area off the pool deck area, you make your way up the stairs to the front door. As you enter this home you enter into the foyer where you can go left to the bedroom wing or go right to the open floor plan indoor living spaces.The open living areas have cathedral ceilings. The kitchen has views of the living and dining area plus breakfast bar seating. The living areas open up to two decks, one facing East and overlooking the pool, and the other deck overlooking the west to see the sunsets, and the amazing 4th of July fireworks at Sombrero Beach in the summer.
The bedroom wing has a Master bedroom that has its own on-suite bath and a private porch overlooking the pool, with lots of closet space. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. The third bedroom has 2 full beds. There is a full bathroom located in the main hallway. The laundry closet is located in the hallway between these two bedrooms.
The outdoor spaces are as beautiful as the indoor spaces. You will have a fun-filled vacation in this home within walking distance of Sombrero Beach.

We had a great stay. The beach so near is a distinct plus. The layout of the house was great and the outside space was so private and had seating in the sun and shade
Loved this home by the beach. Great location, and loved all the outdoor spaces. All the seating by the pool was appreciated.The beds were very comfortable. The primary bedroom had a bathroom that did not have a door. 8 adults stayed here comfortably. We found the home to be accurately represented by VRBO.The grill could use some attention.We saw manatees swimming in the canal on a couple of occasions. Would definitely rent Beach Keen again if our family wasnât growing!
Had a small issue checking in and no response from the management team to assist. Fortunately, we figured it out. Only 1 set of keys even though sheet with house stated there was an additional set. Small issues with property, toilet in master bedroom wobbles and ladder to boat dock is loose as the board nails have broken so getting out of the kayaks we rented at low tide was challenging. Ended up buying toilet paper as only 1 additional roll was left. No response from property manager again after we cleaned, started laundry, took out trash, etc. as instructed at check out. Again, very small issues the house was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay!
Wonderful house and great location and proximity to the beach
I brought my family to Marathon for vacation. We had a great time hanging out at the house and enjoying the beach. The beach was very close and that made it nice to just walk over any time we wanted.
Beautiful property. We were there for a family vacation. The house was perfect for us as a family of 4. We enjoyed the pool and it had a boat dock that was great for the boat we rented. Great vacation! Would definitely rent again.
The property was perfect for us. The home was neat and clean. The pool was great and the dock was big enough for both of our boats. We had a great time. Highly recommend!
We loved staying here! The house was clean and had well-stocked kitchen and baths. There is plenty of shade and privacy around the property to sit and relax, enjoy a great meal, or watch the swimmers and sunbathers. The dock was great for boats and watching the manatee. The beach was a quick walk in the quiet neighborhood.. We plan to return!

This is a very nice property in a great location, however the house still has the same issues noted in the previous review from months ago. First off, I texted the property management team (thatâs how they ask to be communicated with) before our arrival to turn on the heater in the pool and they responded to tell me that this property doesnât have a heated pool even though that is listed as a feature on the vrbo site. Then, when we arrive, I enter the gated yard to find a pile of dog poop on the cement next to the pool. The entire back yard is gated so this had to be from previous renter or homeowner I would assume. When we entered the house, it was very hot, and the screen on the digital thermostat was broken in a way where you could not see any numbers or tell if you were making adjustments to the temperature. You had to adjust and wait until you heard the system turn on to know that you had changed anything. Still the fan in the master was stuck on high-speed and the pull chain remained off as mentioned in the earlier review. The house did cool though and likely because we went in November and the high temps were in the low 80âs. We did keep the curtains closed daily but I can imagine during the hot summer that this cooling system would not be able to keep up. The tv in the master bedroom still was not working as mentioned before. Only plugged in so there is just 1 tv in this house. It is a very nice house, just needs the listing corrected for the heated pool that doesnât exist, and also needs maintenance repairs for issues that were brought to the property managers attention months ago.

The property is nice, the location is great. There are issues I would mainly attribute to the manager, not the owner.
- the kitchen was dirty
- the floors were dirty
- the guest bedroom had a curtain rod pulled out of the wall hanging
- the air conditioner is undersized for the house and there are instructions to only cool "2 degrees at a time..." we did that and the house reaches near 80 during the day, even with curtains closed... its simply not enough for the house
- the master bedroom is a hotbox. easily 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house throughout the night. it is not comfortable
- the tv in the master is not hooked up, its just plugged into the wall, no cable box
- the toilet in the guest bathroom broke during our stay, the pull chain was kept together by a twist tie...
- there are no beach chairs or towels - being a few hundred yards from the beach, seems like we should have been told this
- Ceiling fan in master bedroom is stuck on high and chain is pulled out (laying on dresser) - it vibrates all night and is very noisy. not much choice but to leave it on because the air conditiioner doesn't cool that room.
I sent an email to the property manager in the beginning of the week highlighting these issues. I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE. Not even an acknowledgement... Also called the office multiple times and never got an answer.
The house could and should be a great place to stay. It needs to be maintained and the property manager should be fired - they are clearly not managing properly and clearly unresponsive when there are issues. To the owners - get somebody new to run your rental...
