Nice Place at Christmas

We came to Niagara Falls to visit with Family over the holidays. It was a nice quite place to stay and close to DiCamellos Bakery which is a nice bonus, good thing the stay was relativly short, their donuts are dangerous! It was too snowy and icey to walk around but it was close to the falls, aquarium and Casino and there is a overlook of the gorge about 100 yds away. I dont know if I didnt look closely enough at the listing but I was unaware this was a 2 story unit, I have mobility issues so getting upstairs to the bedroom and bathroom was challenging. There was no shovel available to clear the steps and walkway, the owner did have a handyman come out quickly and shovel after I notified them but it would have been nice to be able to clear the steps in between the handyman visits since it was realativly snowy and cold during our stay.

Poor experience

We arrived and our code wouldn’t work. We contacted the rental agency and they directed us to the rental in the back (our instructions said the front location). We got in and there was a sink full of dirty dishes and there was clearly someone still staying there. The one we walked in to was not the same based on the photos, which we told them when calling back. We were told our rental was double booked but they would find us a new place. They did and we ended up at a 5 bedroom house a few blocks away. While the new location was clean, it was not what we were expecting. The decor was drab and the overall situation left a bad taste in our mouth as we wasted 1.5 hours trying to get the situation corrected. We also lost trust since we walked in to a rental that we didn’t rent but had someone else’s personal property in it. We wondered how often the mishaps happened for this rental company and would it happen to us while we were away visiting the falls. We never saw the actual location we intended on renting so I’m not rating the location but the overall poor experience.

Sketchy neighborhood

After driving to the house, we decided not to stay. We never even went inside. We booked last minute so I didn’t do my research. I trusted that if a house was listed, it would be good. The house itself looked ok from the outside but the rest of the street is horrible. The house next door is overgrown and trashed. There were 3 good reviews so to each their own but we were 2 adult couples, one being a retired officer and we did not feel safe staying. I’ll never again rent without a street view and crime stats.

Modern apartment near Niagara Falls State Park

Modern apartment within easy walking distance of the falls along the river hike and bike path. Please be aware this house has been subdivided vertically into two apartments and you will be renting one of these, not the entire house.
