This was my favorite art installation on Ogijima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea. It was part of the art festival held every three years, Setouchi Triennale in 2013.

The gallery Memory Bottle was installed by Mayumi Kuri. Almost 1,000 bottles are on display, all with pictures or small trinkets inside. In her interview she says that she wanted to gather memories of the local people in Ogijima so she set up a collection box, asking people to put their memories in it. The bottles were lit up with lights and had everything from pictures to train tickets.

The gallery is still open even though the next Setouchi Triennale is not until 2016. If you want to see the art during the islands off season, now is the time to go :)

* 40min ferry ride from Takamatsu Port. It is about a 1.5hr flight from Tokyo to Takamatsu.
