This hotel is in good condition and I found it clean and comfortable. Not much for amenities, and my room was small. The staff was helpful in assisting with locating lost property, which was terrific. The decor was typical hotel, but looks a little dated. The shower had plenty of hot water, but I found the faucet too sensitive. It went from too Hot - too Cold too easily. Once you did get it to a temp you liked, it was fine. Relatively inexpensive if you're visiting the Poughkeepsie area for colleges or whatever and looking for a comfortable place to sleep. Fine for my purposes.

Overall experience

Pros: The staff.
Cons: See experience above.
Location: Great area for sightseeing and The Culinary Institute.
The staff was friendly and helpful. However, this hotel needs a major upgrading, Arriving the parking lot had many leaves over the driveway and the building looked drab. While the lobby was bright and clean, we could not say the same for the hallways and room itself. Carpets looked old and dark. Lighting was also on the darker side. Furniture looked new in the bedroom. There is no elevator and if, we had to go up to the second floor, the stairs were very steep. Breakfast was OK but does not compare to other chains. If we did not have advance reservations, we probably would have left and looked for another hotel. Price for room was way out of line for what was provided.

We were disappointed with this hotel.

Pros: staff and location
Cons: clean the rugs in hallways and entrances. Allow a bigger area for breakfast. Try some variety for breakfast.
Location: FDR Presidential Library, Valkil, Culinary Institute of America.
Breakfast was eggs and sausage everyday. Sausage undercooked. There was not enough seating for breakfast. Rugs in hallway were dirty. Room was clean and staff was very nice. It was conveniently located but I will not stay here again.

Nice hotel !

Staff was nice. Breakfast was good. The only drawback that I could see is that there is no elevator for handicap or people with large luggage. Otherwise it is a nice hotel. Close to Italian restaurant, DQ, McDs, CVS, Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates.

Good for pricr

Our only negative is that because of the low wattage of all the lights in the room, it felt very grim and dreary. Reading was nearly impossible.

On behalf of our entire staff, I apologize that the lights were not to your satisfaction. I have taken a look into all of our lights and made sure that all are working properly and with the correct wattage. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and hope to see you again soon!

Comfortable hotel near some great destinations

I always thought Quality Inns were full-service hotels. This one is not, serving only breakfast (but with scrambled eggs and sausage), and no bar. The rooms are comfortable, and a renovation project was underway while we were there. The reason we chose this hotel is its incredibly close proximity to both the FDR Library and home, and the Culinary Institute of America, where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner.

Okay if nothing else is available in that region.

This was one of the only hotels left for us to stay when we visited Marist College for parents weekend. The room had a musty smell and stains on the carpet. The beds felt worn. The shower was okay. We stayed one night. We do not plan to stay there anymore, except it would be totally remodeled and newly furnished.
