Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites - La Rochelle Vieux Port
"I was at first disappointed, because I reserved a harbor-front view room, but when I checked in, it was not available. However, the thoroughly apologetic desk staff provided a consolation room, which had a good view of a jumbled terrain of ancient, brick-tile roofs with a church steeple behind. It also had a private balcony which was large enough to accommodate a small table and 2 chairs. We also were complemented their breakfast, which was huge in its variety of breads, rolls, salads, cheeses, eggs, meats and fruits. The room was large enough for a comfortable queen bed, tables, a desk and a couple of chairs. Although the outside of the building was, I am guessing, at least a few centuries old, the inside was completely remodeled with all modern conveniences (lots of plugs!) So, lots of charm with modern comforts. It was right in the middle of the ancient harbor. Steps away from museums, shops, restaurants and the ferris wheel! It was a very nice hotel. I would stay there again."
