Albeit not being the most well maintained rental we ever got, the location and hosts were outstanding. Right on the beach. We had a blast and we'll most definitely be back. Thanks!
Positives: away from boardwalk noise, but can still walk there, the view, private beach, comfortable, nice kitchen, owner responded quickly when cable/wifi went out, got to sit in a backhoe.
To echo the previous review, what they said is true. The house had no back deck, and the city was rebuilding the dunes all week. The deck fell prey to a winter storm, so plenty of time to update photos. Think construction vehicles 20 ft away from you going back and forth every 10 to 15 minutes from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. all week long. That isn't the owner's fault and said she didn't know that was happening but the neighbor said it had been going on since the week before so đ€·ââïž They did work ON the property for hours dumping sand & spreading it. That was about 10 ft away from us. They came back the next day to do more.
20 minutes in: The parking situation was not as expected. When I first arrived, I parked in a sand lot in front of the house. A few minutes later a kind neighbor from next knocked on the door saying that I needed to move my car because I was in someone else's spot and she was flipping her whole wig over it. I went outside to move my car and apologize, only to be confronted with a crazy drunk woman screaming obscenities at me. The neighbors let me park in front of their driveway to unload. I struggled up the walkway with my all my stuff to find the woman was waiting for me so she could continue to yell at me. I found a spot on the street topark.
The guest binder had conflicting information on where to park. One page said you could park across the street in the parking lot, another page said that we had parking in a parking lot for four cars down the street. But, it was sooo down the street that it was pretty useless, and there was a random car parked there the whole time.
They also wanted us to allow showings while we were there, to which I said no, twice. The third time the owner said she would refund part of my stay so I agreed. I only got half and am working with my cc company to get the rest.
We made the best of it and still had a good time but there was just too much drama and not enough peace. I never fully relaxed which was my sole purpose in renting a house on the beach. The owners are selling and I think they're just over it. Understandable, but then don't rent it out, or at least charge less for the many inconveniences that you know will be had. Also the bathroom, not as great you'd expect. Very pretty but not well maintained.
The parking is listed as available, suggesting it is on site. It is not. The ONLY available parking is several blocks away, not across the street as listed. Kind neighbors informed us this has been an issue all summer.
Despite the fact that the inside of this house was nice in quality and had a beautiful view, the cons most definitely outweighed the pros. We were extremely disappointed to say the least with our âstayâ (more like house-sitting)
First off, due to a storm that occurred in February (we rented in June) there was absolutely no way to get to the beach, which is the entire point of getting a BEACH HOUSE. The pictures on the VRBO listing were like a totally different place. In the photos there was an entire back deck a railing and a walkway to the beach. This was not there when we arrived and we were not informed prior. We were in a house looking at an inaccessible beach.
Then midweek a dune was rebuilt so instead of waves we heard CONSTRUCTION! WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS WAS HAPPENING! DO NOT ADVERTISE WHAT ISNT THERE.
Communication with the owners was sub-par and inconsiderate. I received a call the day of our arrival saying there would be no parking available (also advertised on the website AND we reached out to the owner about additional parking passes we would need for the guests we never got to invite). The only parking was almost half a mile away and upon arrival the owners gave this long story about how the parking spots down the street were in front of a house with a threatening man inside? Thanks! Again we did not know any of this until the day of. So due to limited street parking we felt like we couldnât move once we parked.
If this wasnât enough, the owners also failed to mention (until the day of) that the property was up for sale. This entailed an entire showing of the property WHILE WE WERE THERE ON âVACATIONâ. We were trapped in the living room area while people roamed around the house for almost two hours. Why did we pay for this? In addition to this, the house also needed to be inspected on ANOTHER day, so privacy was not really achieved in any way shape or form. Oh donât let us forget the refrigerator repair man on a third day. (3/7 days we were there, so was someone else and we couldnât even get onto the beach).
The accessibility of the house should also be specifically noted on the website since itâs a steep uneven walkway to get up to the front door. (house is set back from the street with no safe way up)
Whether or not these owners didnât care because they were selling this property, this was an inconvenience before it was a vacation. The cost of this vacation was a rip off. We certainly did not get ANYTHING we paid for.
We loved our stay at this adorable home. It Was exactly what we were looking for: close to the beach and very well equipped for an easy relaxing stay. We cannot wait to go back!
The beach house was phenomenal. It was
so well equipped from the kitchen to the beach chairs and umbrellas. Unbelievably quaint - right on the beach. It is even more remarkable in person than the pictures! Thank you so much for such a lovely vacation with family and friends.

Great little beach house!!
We had an excellent time at your house! It was a beautiful sandy beach. The house was perfect and had everything we needed and more. Having a dryer (and washer) right there for all the wet towels was great! The beach breezes were great for sleeping and my daughter loved being able to have her toes in the sand morning, noon and night! Thanks so much!
