The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. The open bar in the lobby was nice . Check in was smooth and Natalia and Marcos as well as the other front desk staff were there whenever we had a question. The only suggestion is that the showers should have grab bars for safety.
Love the hotel because of the fantastic location and amazing staff. The adult only concept and open bar was exactly what we were looking for, sadly we wouldn’t stay again, the room was basic and actually felt unpleasant to stay in, no beside cabinets nowhere to unpack, other than a rail with a handful of hangers and a bathroom is dated. It’s a real shame as we loved the hotel concept, but would only stay again if the rooms were completely overhauled
To be petty: I've seen much older buildings in Europe with elevators (added, of course, in the 19th and 20th centuries). The hot water is unstable in the showers (or, certainly in my room). Magnificent staff of by smart, young people ready for intelligent conversation and useful suggestions —of things actually off the beaten path.
Excellent staff and service... close to everything in old San Juan

Excellent location
Having booked for 4 nights post our cruise holiday, we were upgraded to a bigger room so that we would be more comfortable. And it was. The room was very basic but it was spacious with one double and one single bed. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night. The services from all staff were excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic as it was very easy to walk everywhere within the old San Juan. The rooftop area was nice to sit in the evening.
Perhaps the worst hotel choice I've made since forever... Given that it was rated the #3 hotel in Trip Advisor and over a 9 on Expedia: I was led to the slaughter. It was over $1400 for three nights and this "3.5 star hotel" was more like a dirty, loud, 2 star hotel with cold showers. Needed to clean my feet every time they touched the tile floor. It has NOT been renovated. Love historical properties. OK with taking luggage upstairs. Loved the location. Staff was great. Free drinks is great. Rooftop is a plus. Bed was good. But OMG, it could not have been louder. Took three cold showers. First time since Scout camp when I was 14. Have traveled a lot. Use to be every week. But the downs were just to great to justify its perks. My wife wanted to check out and find another hotel, but I just didn't want the disruption.
Old San Juan is beautiful but it’s 500 years old and the hotel is 150 years old it’s a beautiful place.l

The staff are friendly but I wouldn’t choose this hotel a second time. It’s way overpriced for what it is. The building is very interesting and they really do try their best, but it’s fairly decrepit with uncomfortable beds and cheap furnishings. If you want to take advantage of an open bar and that means a lot to you, the bartender is very nice and we had a nice simple rum drink upon arrival. The location is great, too, and maybe it is better than other hotels in this neighborhood? I would just choose something different next time.
I would absolutely stay here again. It's pretty awesome to be handed your room key and asked if you need a beer. The internet worked fairly well, the rooms were clean, and I could not hear any riff raff outside. Also, it's very well-located in the heart of everything.
The property has a great location in Old San Juan. The hotel operates by a code entry door. We intially had to be buzzed in. We felt the intial greeting was a bit awkward and not the warmest. Almost felt like we were grilled with questions to verify our stay at the door step. I gather this is a security measure.
Hotel is clean and quiet. Adult only guests. The 24/7 locked main door eases saftey concerns. Luggage storage offered before check in. No elevator, so pack light. We climbed 3 flights with luggage. Room clean and quaint.
Next time we may choose an interior room to avoid street noise from the balcony.
All in all the hotel was good.
