Decent but Disappointed
The property itself was not a problem, it was accurate to the picture displayed.
Most of our disappointment came from communication with the hosts. Prior to booking the property, I messaged the hosts to ask if there could be any accommodation since our flight landed at 12am and check in was at 3pm. I was told by the host that no accommodations could be made other than booking the day in advance rather than the day we land. However, when I attempted to book the advanced day, the day was already booked. After booking, we discovered that there was a hurricane, hurricane Ernesto, that left Puerto Rico with flooding and no electricity. I then messaged to the hosts to cancel the trip due to safety concerns. I was denied a cancellation refund due to the fact that the hurricane barely impacted the property and they had backup generators and water tanks. I then asked if we could reschedule since they were not willing to refund us. They replied with âif something opens up we could let you knowâ. At this point my friend and I felt pressured to go on the trip or our money would be a waste. After consulting with my friend, we decided weâd wait the 15 hours since it was too late to book somewhere else due to age restrictions (we are not 21) and not receiving a refund. Luckily we were safe and the locals were kind to us but it was a extremely dangerous situation. We were walking around Puerto Rico with our luggage for 13 hours.
