The room was dirty, dried food streaks down the cupboards, a dirty cloth in the garbage bin In the bathroom. The toilet holder was partially broken off in the bathroom and the mirror had finger prints and smudges on it. The fridge had dried grossness in the grooves to open the door. The hallway door was evening held open by clothes and it was across from a linen clothes that had piles of dirty sheets and towels piles on the floor. Over all a bad experience.

Both rooms were extremely smelly. Room 703, in particular, had a strong marijuana odor that was quite unpleasant for young children. The pillows smelled moldy, and the bed felt very itchy, which made me wonder if there were any bed bugs. To top it off, the air conditioning was loud and kept us waking up at night. Overall, it was a terrible stay!

Check in was painful. My credit card chip was not able to be read, which can happen, and the front desk was not allowed to "manually" insert the card in the system. After 10 minutes the card did finally accept but this could have been done in the first couple of minutes. Bad management directions.

I stayed at many Sandman hotels and I'll never stay at this one ever again. The hallway leading up to my room was filthy. Inside my room the rug needed to be vacuumed there was a used metal fork under the tv. Inside the bathroom there was black hair around the tub. Management should take a walk on different floors now and then to see the condition of the rooms and hallways. I will never return to this hotel!!!

To be honest the room was underwhelming, especially for a "Signature" level hotel. It was dirty, there was dust on top of things, the headboard was filthy, the carpet was pulled up and stretched and the closet door was broken and the bathroom mirror and backsplash were in need of repair/updating. The largest issue was that the HVAC unit for the room did not work and was quite noisy. The control panel on the unit itself was broken and the wall control panel was ineffective. Normally, I would have addressed the issue at the time and asked for a rom change, but we were in town for stressful medical appointments for my daughter and we could not deal with that at the time due to everything else going on, so we just ignored the room as best we could. I've stayed in many lower tier hotels that were at least cleaner and were everything worked as expected. Based on this experience, I'll stay elsewhere next time I'm in Richmond.
