My room was exceptionally clean with nice comfy bed and linens. I was on the backside of the property which was very quiet. Just an FYI - there are no views at this location. I did not have a kitchen suite but still had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Buses to downtown or north to the airport are only steps away and $6 gets you a day pass good for the whole day. I really enjoyed my stay at Arbutus.

The hotel staff need a better booking system or training. Around 12:20 am I was awoken to a couple trying to get into my room. I told them it was occupied. I called the front desk. They thought they had booked me in a different room and didn’t realize it was occupied. Totally disorganized and unacceptable. Needless to say I didn’t have a restful night after that happened. Also the neighbours were noisy and I could hear their voices and tv/music playing the entire night through the walls. I’d suggest bringing ear plugs.

The hotel and room were great value for money! Clean, secure and friendly. Bed was comfy and shower hot. The only negative is the location on north Douglas St. It’s very bleak with not much atmosphere and a lot of homeless people especially young men with nowhere to go and nothing to do. That’s the City’s problem not the hotel’s. If you’re OK with that Arbutus Inn is a great choice!
