Welcome to our Lovely 1 Bedroom Suite in a heritage manor, perfectly located in the heart of Fairfield, one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Victoria. This fantastic convenient location is within walking distance to all levels of amenities, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, tourist attractions, Cook Street Village, Beacon Hill Park, Downtown, Dallas Road waterfront, and public transit. Whether it's for short or long stays, this fully furnished suite offers the comfort of a home away from home.

SPACE:

This lovely quiet one-bedroom suite is located on the top floor of our building. It is bright with tons of natural light flooding through the large south-facing windows. At one end of the suite, a reading nook awaits you for some quiet time, perhaps enjoying a book or two. On the opposite end, you will find a bedroom furnished with a comfortable medium-firm pillow-top queen-size bed with quality linens and an ensuite bathroom (in the bedroom). The kitchen in the suite is fully equipped with everything that you will need to prepare your yummy meals. Relax and enjoy your favourite shows on the Smart 50” TV in the living room. This suite is ideal for a couple but can accommodate a small family of 4 with the pull-out sofa full size bed. For those who are seeking to work remotely, we have a workstation, with free, fast, and stable internet with 1000 Mbps.

LOCATION:

Our heritage manor is located in the heart of Fairfield, a charming historical neighbourhood with many century-old heritage homes on quiet tree-lined streets leading to the Salish Sea, the famous Dallas Road waterfront, Clover Point Park, and many beaches including picturesque Gonzales Bay, and dramatic views of the Olympic Mountains. About 5 minute easy walk from us is Cook Street Village, a lively strip featuring laid-back eateries, cafés, sidewalk patios, grocery stores, and small local shops. The vibrant and popular Moss Street Market, a weekly summer outdoor market, is only a few blocks away. Many of the attractions are within walking distance from us, such as the Craigdarroch Castle, the Government House, Beacon Hill Park, and the Inner Harbour. For anyone who appreciates Victorian, Edwardian, and Craftsman homes, or who wants a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Downtown, look no further than our unique neighbourhood. The proximity to Downtown, the waterfront, parks, attractions, amenities, public transit, and bike routes make our property a perfect place to live, work and visit. Many of our guests described our location as great or perfect.

HISTORY:

This large three-level Craftsman, chalet style, heritage manor was designed by the famous Canadian architect, Samuel Maclure, in 1912 for a prominent local businessman who was well-known for his interest in the prohibition movement and church and was president of the YMCA. The building has since been converted into seven self-contained suites over two decades ago. The suites, all unique from each other, ranging from studio to 1-bedroom suites, all have their own kitchen and bathroom. The manor, was known as Trutch Manor Suites, had for many years been Victoria's popular bed and breakfast. The manor is now renamed “Larkspur Manor Suites” to pay homage to our beautiful city, "City of Gardens".  Larkspur is an old-fashion flower that comes in a variety of shades, with beautiful meanings, most commonly used to symbolize love, affection, strong attachment, happiness, and a pure heart. We believe Larkspur beautifully represents our manor in welcoming people from all shades to have a wonderful, happy experience, whether they are here for a special occasion, holiday making, or to reconnect with loved ones and families. As the new owner with years of hospitality experience hosting travelers, business professionals, and international students from all over the world, and as a super host, and premiere host, I am excited and pleased to continue offering this wonderful manor as your home away from home while you are visiting or working in Victoria.

THINGS TO NOTE:

This suite is on the second floor (the top floor) of the building. There are stairs to the building and to the suite, (sorry no elevator), and it is not wheelchair accessible. As such, it will be challenging for those with mobility difficulties.

The washroom is in bedroom.  

The sofa bed is full size.

There are some creaks and squeaks on the floor which are to be expected from this vintage building.

Laundry is at the building in our basement and is coin-operated. You will need 2 loonies (2 $1 coins) each to wash and dry. Laundry is between 9 am - 8 pm.

Our posted rate is for double occupancy. Additional charge applies after 2 people. If you are two travelers and prefer to have separate sleeping arrangements, please let us know in advance, we are happy to prepare extra bedding for you for an additional fee of $50/stay to cover costs for additional off-site professional laundry services and for additional housekeeping preparation.

Our 4-year-old dog, Cosmo, a medium-sized Labradoodle, stays with me at the property. You may see him play outside in the courtyard. If you are nervous around dogs, please let me know and I will limit his presence outside.

We have motion sensor security cameras on the outside of our building which stay on during your stay. One at the main entrance near the door outside, one on the side of the building above the gate, one near the fire escape near Unit 7, and one on the garage in our parking lot. We do not have any devices inside the building or in any of the private spaces.

Lovely in every way

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly loved our stay. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, and a short walk to a grocers, coffee, and restaurants. I was participating in an event in the inner harbour and it was about a 15 minute walk, which was ideal. The apartment had everything we needed- a comfortable bed, a kitchen with all the cooking supplies, a nice little living/dining room area. Checking in was very easy with extremely clear and helpful instructions. The host checked in on us over text to make sure we had everything we needed. All in all it was a lovely stay in every way and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I will be recommending this place to others as well.

perfect stay in Victoria BC

Holly is a wonderful host. She is easily reachable to answer our (many) questions. The house itself is magnificent..an older home in a quiet section of Victoria. Holly has attended to every detail of preserving this historic masterpiece. Our apartment was immaculate and Holly provided us with every amenity we could think of. The home is close to shopping and amazing restaurants all withihn walking distance. We were there for my husband to run Victoria marathon and it was the perfect place to stay for gearing up for the race and peaceful recovery afterwards We would love to stay there again

Cute suite in a manor house

This is a cute suite on the top floor of a manor house with a beautiful antique feel. It is solid, and we couldn't hear any noise from other suites. Probably best for a couple as the bathroom can only be accessed by walking through the bedroom (guest on the sofa bed has to come into the bedroom to use the bathroom). We loved the area. It was perfect for our needs.

Vintage Charm in Victoria

Had a wonderful stay at this lovely Inn near downtown Victoria. Easy walk to downtown, grocery, restaurants, park & beach. Loved walking through neighborhoods seeing deer, squirrels & even a peacock! Free parking was great as trying to find parking in Victoria is challenging. Host was great at communicating check in procedure as well as checking on us during the stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice Stay

We had to cancel a trip to Lassen Park in California because of the wildfires. I went online and unit 5 at this location just happened to be available for the two nights we needed, I rented it without doing any other searching as it had great reviews and was close to downtown AND the price seemed very reasonable. We had a wonderful stay and I would try and rent again at this location, but it looks like this place normally needs to be rented well in advance! I heard no noise from the other units and bed was comfortable .

Quiet place and you can walk to downtown

The neighbourhood is quiet, so sleeping with windows open was not an issue. Also very convenient location, allowing you to walk every where, including from the Blackball ferry. Highly recommend.

An amazing stay

This suite is part of Larkspur Manor, a charming heritage building, beautifully maintained both inside and out. Our suite was immaculate, stocked with everything you would ever need to feel comfortable and at home. The kitchen was supplied with great cookware, spices and wonderful coffee! Our host, Holly was so warm and communicative, helpful and committed to making our stay perfect! Her attention to details and organization was amazing. The Fairfield location is central, with easy walks and transportation to Cook st, downtown and the ocean. Thank you Holly for a truly memorable stay. Truly one our best VRBO experiences! Holly is a wonderful host for this lovely property. So many little extras were included and she was immediately responsive to our questions. The suite is in a great location, easily accessible by several bus lines and a short cab ride from downtown.
