We had a fantastic stay at this property in Big Sky. The space was thoughtfully designed, very clean, and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The location is great with convenient access to the mountain. Technically it is ski-in/ski-out, but itâs a bit of a stretch to describe it that way, as getting to and from the slopes can require a little extra effort. That said, it was still very manageable and didnât take away from a great ski trip. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily return.
The âski in/ski outâ description was a bit of a stretch. To reach the village, we had to take a long trail to a small lift. That part wasnât too bad, but getting back meant skiing along the side of the road. When we arrived, the place was very cold. We later learned there was a problem with both the heating and the gas fireplace. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. The toilet ran constantly, the shower didnât drain properly, and there was mold on the walls. The kitchen sink was loose and wouldnât shut off correctly. By the time we left, none of the TVs were working.Overall, the property felt poorly maintained and was not very clean.
The units is very nice. No complaints. However...the use of the term "ski in/ski out" is used generously here. The path to ski to or from the ski lifts is an un-groomed trail thru the woods pushing your self along, including multiple uphill sections. Utterly exhausting. Coming back you have to "ski" on the road, with traffic, pushing your self along and, again, up hill part of the way. And say good by to your wax if the road has been recently plowed, as in our case. Did I mention, you still have to take an "access lift" to get to the actual ski lifts. FYI, The access lift closes at 4pm sharp, and it's a good 20-30 minute hike to get to them, so you end up loosing at least half an hour of ski time. But it is doable for experienced skiers. FYI, if you miss the 4pm cutoff, you're screwed. My real gripe is with the management company though. They are unknowledgeable about the unit and very unaccomedating. When asked, (days in advance) for an extra set of bedding we were simply told "no". When asked if the shuttle service would come to this property they didn't know and when we couldn't figure out how to use the fire place we received multiple unclear text messages. (I'm a construction professional so I tend to be good at figuring out this kind of thing) Turns out the fireplace is controlled by an alternate thermostat (neither labeled) that has to be set in relation to the heat thermostat. Eventually a nice service guy came by but even he seemed confused by it for a while.
Communication was good. Space is perfect for 2 people. May be a bit crowded for more than 2. Clean and convenient to the mountain. Listed as a ski-in/ski-out. That is a bit of a stretch. It would take much effort to get to a lift. You would need to cross roads, if not snow covered you would have to remove your skis/snowboard. We chose to drive to the mountain base. It is a short drive
Communication was great. Property was nice. Non ski access to the Villiage and Town Center was tough with no car as it's outside of the public shuttle area.
My family and I had a wonderful stay, we found it comfortable and clean, thank you for having us, hope to be back!!!!
I love the cot idea in the closet, make a bunk out of that space, would be super cool(that cot needs a little loveđ(but my kids fought for the nook every night)
This was a great day place for a multi-day ski trip. The apartment was cozy, with plenty of room to relax after a day on the slopes. Neighborhood trails and lifts made accessing the base area easy. Would definitely come back.
Cute but not what you would call a "ski in/ski out"
The place itself was very clean and nice. Easy to locate and a great space for just two of us however do not think this should be considered a ski in/ski out as you are not even on the same side as the mountain, you're across the street and the directions for getting to the mountain require taking trails, crossing streets and supposedly going in a tunnel that we could not locate. The floor heaters didnt work either and they did have someone out there within minutes but they did not get the floor heaters working. The portable plug in heaters we were told to use in place of the floor heathers didnt work either. Tried talking to the homeowner but was ignored and the management company wanted to argue that the heater was working when in fact it was not, coming from someone who owns a heating and cooling company in FL. If you want to ski in/ski out, I would not recommend this place.
We enjoyed our stay in this well located, well appointed, and clean, comfortable rental. Liked the bathroom with walk-in shower and footed tub. Sleeper sofa requires guest to put the sheets on each night. Met one of the owners who was most pleasant and hospitable. A very pleasant experience overall.
Location is great! The flat is great! Very cozy. Kitchen is well stocked. We were able to cook dinners mutliple nights and had all the equipment and utensils necessary. The knives were worn but we've never stayed at any vacation property that had better than these, we made it work. We took advantage of the ski-out ski-in. The path to the mountain village is not for beginners and will take some effort to get home (where is the tow rope at cascade lift?) But we were happy to have the option. There was some type of remodel going on at the owners residence during our stay but it didnt impact us. Our only complaint is the bed. It sags in the middle and really needs to be replaced. But in the end what really matters about staying in a rental: would we be back? The answer is an emphatic yes! Looking forward to returning soon.
There was a problem with the heating. The management company could have been better but the owners were on it. If there had been powder, it would have been perfect.
The house is managed by Stay Montana, so a very high level of professionalism with all the communications and management. I received multiple text updates before I got there with a link to all the information I needed in 1 place and then after I'd been there for a day to make sure everything was ok.
Was myself and my 2 teenage sons and was pleasantly surprised there was a small bed in the walk-in closet, in addition to the queen and the pull out couch so we all had space. Not a huge space but has everything you need as a base for a trip with good wifi, well stocked kitchen, etc.
While it's listed as ski-in, ski-out, the directions to do so are pretty complicated so would recommend just driving to to Big Sky Resort if you're skiing, which is only about 2 mins away. There's plenty of free parking nearby and shuttles running regularly to take you from your car to the core of the Mountain Village.
West Yellowstone is only about an hour drive from here as well where a lot of Yellowstone tours are based out of. We did a full day snowmobile trip with Two Top and loved it.
Overall, would definitely stay again if we're able to make it back to this beautiful area!
We found the flat to be very well-appointed, with every possible accommodation. It was perfect for me and my child. Would be great for a single person or a small family.
The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.
We had a lot of snow come down while we were there, which was great for skiing, but required us to clear off and warm up the car each morning, since the parking spot was outside. There are some stairs to reach the unit, so it was a bit of a hike to load and unload bags etc., but we were aware of that going in - just something to note for future guests. The fireplace was a nice extra touch and we loved the puzzle and table and bar areas were ideal. The shower was a bit narrow but it suited us fine.
Note: The thermostat didn't always appear to reflect the temperature of the room and the door lock made noises even when we weren't using it. I imagine it was connected to the door of the main house. All was good for the few nights we were there, these were simply a few notable features that I would have asked the management about if I had been there longer.
It is a lovely place in the forest above a garage of a single-family home. The instructions to ski back to the unit need an update which Iâd be happy to do
