Starfish Cottage is a peaceful retreat for two, designed to blend comfort, simplicity, and the natural beauty that surrounds Searenity. Guests often describe their stay here as “beautiful, peaceful, and healing” — and many return again and again.

Wake up in nature

Wake up to the sounds of birds and visits from hummingbirds at the feeders on your balcony. From your bed, it feels as though you are hugged by the trees, with views of the Blue Mountains, Nonsuch Falls, and the Portland coastline perfectly framed by the forest. Many guests say these moments in the morning are the highlight of their stay.

Comfort and amenities

Starfish Cottage measures about 400 square feet (37 m²) and is thoughtfully designed for two guests. The space includes a plush king-sized bed that can also be set as two twin beds, a private bathroom, and an outdoor balcony kitchenette.

The kitchenette is equipped with a 2-burner hotplate, microwave, electric kettle, mini-fridge, pots, pans, and all the essentials for preparing simple meals. Guests love cooking breakfast here and enjoying it outside while hummingbirds dart around the feeders. A hammock and outdoor seating make the balcony one of the most memorable places to spend time.

Relax and recharge

Starfish gives you plenty of ways to unwind. Swing in the hammock, watch the light shift across the mountains, or spend time at the property’s 25-meter lap pool. For those who like to stay active, the open-air Jungle Gym offers one of the most scenic workout spaces in Jamaica, overlooking the valley and coastline.

The property’s gardens are filled with tropical plants and flowering trees that attract butterflies and birds. On the lawn you’ll also find a dedicated earthing spot, where guests can ground themselves barefoot and reconnect with nature in the simplest way.

A sanctuary for birds — and for you

Searenity sits in the middle of a bird sanctuary, home to all of Jamaica’s endemic species. Birdwatchers will be thrilled, but even casual guests are amazed by the daily presence of hummingbirds, parrots, and other colorful species. The constant soundtrack of birdsong and the feeling of being surrounded by life is one of the most unique aspects of staying here.

Close to everything

Though Starfish Cottage feels private and surrounded by nature, it’s also centrally located in the heart of Portland. Waterfalls, beaches, restaurants, and cultural attractions are just minutes away, and nothing is more than 30 minutes from your door. You’ll have the best of both worlds — the quiet and calm of a forested sanctuary, and the convenience of easy access to explore the parish.

Spend your morning swimming at Frenchman’s Cove or hiking to Reach Falls, then return in the afternoon to rest by the pool or hammock. Many guests say this balance of exploration and relaxation is what makes their time at Searenity so memorable.

The Searenity experience

Starfish is one of six cottages that make up Searenity, each with its own character but all sharing the same focus: peace, comfort, and connection with nature. Guests enjoy access to the lap pool, Jungle Gym, gardens, and the bird sanctuary that surrounds the property.

While here, you can also visit the Guango Boutique, located on-site. It’s a reflection of Stef’s creativity and love of wholesome living, where you’ll find her homemade granola, free-range chicken eggs, refreshing kefir water, and handcrafted jewelry from her line LaTige. The boutique is a guest favorite, offering both nourishing treats and unique keepsakes.

Throughout the cottages you’ll also see David’s underwater photography. His images bring Jamaica’s marine world into your stay, connecting you to the sea that surrounds the island and celebrating its natural beauty.
