Stone Cottage on Erie Canal, Brockport!
Unwind at this stunning Stone Cottage. The house was lovingly built with stone wall, brick arch doorways, and antique details for a luxurious yet charming feel. In a quiet neighborhood with wonderful restaurants and shops, and sights within walking distance to Brockport. Placed right on the Erie canal for peaceful moments outside and wonderful finishing location!
Within walking distance to SUNY Brockport! NO smoking of any kind please - penalty of $150 if ozone machine is required for next guest. All smoking must be done outdoors.
Pets are welcome! Pet fee of $20/night per pet will be requested separately a couple of days before your arrival. I'm open to discounts for smaller breeds or longer stays. Please keep all pets off of the furniture and pick up any messes outside prior to departure. Doggy bags are available.
The cottage was very well maintained and stocked, we enjoyed our stay and Cheryl was an excellent host. We enjoyed our visit at this unique place and it is located close to Main Street. Our only recommendation would be knowing more about the history of the cottage.
I have relatives in the Brockport area and travel there 1-2 times per year and have always stayed in local hotels. As traveling with a dog and staying in a hotel can be quite challenging at times. I decided to take a chance and stay in a VRBO property as my stay was a bit longer than usual and felt it would be better suited for myself and my dog rather than a hotel. I selected this property as the size was right and its uniqueness. Unknown to me, I learned this property was owned in the late 1800âs, early 1900âs by my brother in lawâs grandparents who had a laundry here and in the space next door ( since torn down) and my sister in lawâs grandparents used to take their laundry there! The pictures and descriptions were accurate. Somehow I missed not seeing that there was no dishwasher but that was okay. On the day I arrived, it was the beginning of a heat wave and the AC downstairs was not working ( it was working upstairs where you slept). I notified the host and not only was it fixed the next day, another new AC was installed. This kept the downstairs quite comfortable. The host kept me informed throughout the day the status which was great. The only downside was noise from trucks early in the morning. I believe this is temporary as the bridge at the end of the street is out ( and almost ready to open) and traffic was being detoured to this street. The noise was only in the early morning and not the rest of the day.
There is much to love about this property, starting with Cheryl who is incredibly responsive to messages. Kudos to her! The home itself is so quaint and eclectic- built in about 1850 of old rock, it clearly played a roll in Erie Canal commerce. I wish the owners would research property history and add it to the ( nicely done) property instructions. Lots of parking - lots of chairs to sit out by the canal, which is close to the house! Loved watching the water and the occasional canal boat. Easy walking distance to go over the bridge and walk the tow path and to downtown. The house was clean inside - towels are soft - sheets are like butter! Beds are comfortable. The tile inside is extensive and random. Not on issue - youâve been warned lol. Lots of kitchen storage - great refrigerator and stove - seating for 8 to eat indoors. Be aware the neighborhood was surprising to me - used to be an industrial area- next door is a vacant lot where an old building was recently torn down. Other side of the street is mainly student rental houses and a half closed factory building. There were a few small issues - shower is mildewed all around the base; âfancyâ shower heads shown in photos do not work; hole in shower covered with packing tape; lots of burned out lightbulbs ( which have probably been replaced). Only one bedroom has AC. No dishwasher. Lots of trash /paper in the yard - Iâm sure itâs been cleaned now. Car stored yard. No floor lamps in living room. Iâd stay again !!
This was a lovely property right on the canal. The cottage was immaculate, well stocked and very comfortable. Communication with owner was fabulous when we did have an issue, it was responded to and taken care of within minutes. This is a great location if you are visiting a college student or town. We would consider staying again even if not for school because of its location and charm
This property is clean well organized and conveniently located in Brockport. There is off street parking. Definitely enjoyed this last weekend with friends and family.
Loved our stay at this place! Right next to the canal, this house has a lot of character. Has all the amenities you need! Older place, but then again they all are. Perfect location! Would love to stay again!
This property is perfectly located within walking distance to town and SUNY Brockport. The house had everything we would need and we were appreciative of being able to bring our dog. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is soft and cozy. Love the water pressure in the shower. Plenty of space and easy access to multiple locations, be it the college, beach or Main Street. Cheryl was super responsive as well!
It was the perfect house for 4 women. It was a great location, walking distance to Main Street. Easy check in and easy check out. I would definitely love to come back here again!
The place was really nice and cozy.....Wife loved the bed. Traffic was a little loud but only because the main bridge was closed and all traffic came by the cottage. Loved the coffee and kitchen things left for us to use....I recommend this place if you want nice comfortable place on the canal...
