Experience life in Australia in a bygone era where domestic life was one of calm and joyful class - representing the optimism of the post-war era. The original features and unique items in the traditional Aussie home provide ambience, comfort and interest. The house can accommodate up to 6 people in 4 beds (extra mattresses can be provided). It's one block from the estuary (see the map), putting you close to both walks along the water, town and Bunbury's many attractions.
There is off-street parking for 4 or 5 vehicles. Your own caravan can be parked up with access to power and a water hose, by prior arrangement.
It's one block from the estuary where you can fish & crab (crab nets provided in season), and there's an easy walk into town through Queens Garden where Saturday local markets are held. There's also cycling and walking tracks, perfect for getting children and dogs out. There's easy access to all of Bunbury's sights including the Dolphin Discovery Centre, Bunbury Wildlife Park, Bunbury Farmers Market, Koombana Bay, Back Beach, Marlston Hill Lookout, Bunbury Lighthouse, Mangrove Boardwalk, Leschenault Inlet, Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, the CBD Mural Trail, Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre, Wyalup-Rocky Point, South West Sports Centre, Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre, HOYTS Cinemas, Boulters Heights, Maidens Reserve, Wardandi Boodja Sculpture, and St Patrick's Cathedral.
The historic 1937 caravan was featured in WA author Tim Winton's Cloudstreet TV series and is gorgeous to sleep or chill with friends. It's set up with facilities including a fridge to serve drinks or tea and serves as a 4th bedroom.
The cottage kitchen is perfect for cooking and will meet all your needs. An oven, gas cook top, microwave, rice cooker, slow cooker, food processor and small size dishwasher etc ensure that you can cook or bake to your heart's content. A coffee pod machine and milk frother are provided, with teas, coffee and milk, as are seasonings, oil, condiments, some spreads and a basic pantry etc for your convenience.
There is an original Metters stove and large gas BBQ on the patio, with dining table and sofa to relax under the verandah. Fill the vintage cast iron bath in the garden to cool down or rinse off after trips to the beach. The kids love it. Run the water onto the garden after.
The shared outdoors laundry can be accessed by prior arrangement with laundry soap etc provided, or a laundry service can be provided by the caretaker who lives in a rear annex.
There are books, board games and some toys for children. Outdoor games, including a mini-golf set that you can use at the free mini-golf course opposite town, a walk away, are provided. You could also loan the stand up paddle board that can fit an adult and two children. There are two surfskis too that can be wheeled to the estuary.
All bedrooms have generous wardrobe space and bedside cabinets and two also include dressing tables.
Pets are welcome inside and out, by prior arrangement. Dogs can be left unattended in the secure garden if needed. We have provided doggie daycare for some of our working guests.
