If you're looking for a five star all inclusive resort, this is not the place for you. It's a charmingly rustic cabin tucked back in the woods. I've seen the negative reviews complaining about the random vehicles parked about or sheds sitting here and there and to be honest it made me want to book it even more. The cabin was PERFECT. The host, Tom, was so welcoming. You feel like you're in the backwoods somewhere but you're only a minute from town. We throughly enjoyed our stay and our only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. If you're looking for something different I highly recommend this lovely little place!
The cabin was as described. We enjoyed our overnight. The only negative is nobodys bed is my bed. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely consider staying again.
Half of the outlets didnât work. Pictures of the outside view showed lakefront and it was not even close to the pond. Grill that was advertised was unusable.
The cabin was cozy and in a great location. I loved all the artwork and decor. The host was friendly and available. We enjoyed the fireplace and the firepit. I would note that it only has one bed and a couch as the listing says it sleeps 4.
The cabin was very cozy but unfortunately did not get to use the fireplace because of the warm weather. We are looking forward to come back this fall or winter.
Cute cabin, tucked back in the woods. There are out buildings nearby but no cabins nearby. Lots of cool artwork and a beautiful stone fireplace. Host checks in to see how youâre doing. Great AC!
Early check in was allowed. Property was scattered with junk/ trash on both sides of road driving to cabin. Broke down truck parked in road way. Cabin was filthy, yard was over grown and littered with discarded items. Cabin had not been deep cleaned in years. Owner was super nice, but obviously unable to maintain upkeep. Cabin skirting was lying on the ground, so any critter/ animal could come in. Light fixtures were covered with dust and cob webs. Mice were running from room to room. Basically expected a lot more from the pictures. Not what I expected for the amount paid. Sadly, will not be staying at this location, again.
No communication at all. Other people were there when I got there.
As a woman itâs scary to get to your VRBO rental and have 2 men come out saying they were renting it and staying there. I never got a phone number from the owner and ended up getting it from the guy who was already unpacking there. The door was unlocked as well according to those people. They called the owner and told them they were in the wrong cabin so they left, but i donât know what they could have added or left in the place or if they even lied.
Lots of dust everywhere and not clean in terms of dusting. The shower curtain had a lot of black mold on it.
Very beautiful bedroom surrounded by windows and was amazing to wake up surrounded by nature and trees. The drive up was weird considering other people live around the area and leave their garbage out.
I was just uncomfortable and uneasy and wish I had contact with the host. I even texted the number after our stay to let them know I started a load of towels in the laundry for them and got no response.
Overall liked staying here, just not worth the price and felt a little unsafe.
We were only in town for a short time attending an event in Makanda. We decided to stay at the cabin on the hill and were not disappointed! Tom is a fantastic host with great communication. It was everything we expected and we would highly recommend to anyone.
The stay was great. Only issue encountered is we thought the couch was a hide-a-bed, but it did not open up. The cabin was well kept and the owners are very nice.
