Avis pour Lakefront Cottage with Screened Gazebo, Dock, and Two Acres of Space
We had a great time here. The house is a classic summer home, a bit run down but thatâs part of its charm. It is very private with a huge yard, multiple seating areas, and most importantly, a lovely little dock and swim access platform. We loved swimming in the crisp lake water. Stay close to shore though, many power boats fly by very close to shore during the weekend. Close to amazing hiking trails in the Adirondacks. We will definitely come back.
Quaint, rustic, comfortable- the ambiance of the house and property fostered a peaceful, relaxing, and pleasant atmosphere while at the same time provided the outlets for kayaking, fishing, hiking. A step back in time but with all the modern conveniences.
Our third year here was wild and wonderful: a major thunderstorm with tornado ripped through Chestertown midweek, leaving all Loon Lake with no power, so we had no lights or stove or water for 42 hours! We enjoyed tapping into our pioneer spirit, and used the big propane grill to make coffee and cook dinners. Loved the remodeled main bathroom which is now stylish and comfortable with new updated fixtures. Along with the new recliners and rescreened gazebo, this cottage is lovelier than ever. Of course, the dock here and the lake itself are unchanged, giving us spectacular views from our front porch too. Great place â under all circumstances!
Thank goodness the location is so beautiful and peaceful. The house is old and has great charm. However, it's about one step away from being a "fixer-upper." There were cracks in the plaster walls, water stains in the kitchen and living room ceilings. The kitchen is relatively new and very easy to work in. The refrigerator was empty, so unlike other homes we've stayed in, we had to bring in everything from scratch. No problem. Salt and pepper were available. Pots were pretty old, so no such thing as non-stick surfaces. Plenty of dishes and cutlery. The washer /dryer were new and awesome. Surprisingly, there was a large amount of lint in the dryer trap, something the cleaning people should be aware of. The full bathroom did not have an electric outlet and the shower door was rickety at best. And if you are showering, no one can use the sink because it diverts the hot water. The biggest complaint we had was the beds. They were old. Every time we turned in bed, we could hear it. The springs were visible. Surprisingly, the house next door to us, also owned by the same people, had a review that mentioned the same thing. The outdoor grill was disgusting & filthy. We decided not to use it. Our grandkids did enjoy the playground, but there was a yellow jacket nest in the ground by the slide. We did notify the management that there was a broken window pane to the basement. They came right away, but just leaned a screen against it. And no surprise, we started hearing animals in the attic and in the walls. We notified the management on Wednesday and the pest control company came on Saturday to assess the situation. They confirmed that there were issues in the attic. They were going to notify the manager on Monday with an estimate and we never heard from them again. But we definitely heard the critters again. Every clock in the house had the wrong time (except the microwave and stove) thanks to old batteries. We had to replace the batteries in one of the TV remotes. No surprise on our way out the smoke alarm started chirping! Probably needed a battery. Oh, make sure you bring a fire stick, cable is very basic. The Internet is good. We were afraid to use the fireplace since we had no idea if and when the last time the flu was cleaned. On the plus side, the location is remote, but not too remote. The lake is beautiful but busy with powerboats and jet skis, even in mid-September. The sounds of nature are amazing. The evening sky is spectacular.
We had a great week on Loon Lake enjoying the beautiful Adirondacks. Sitting on the dock watching the boating during the day and the stars at night canât be beat!
We loved this house. Traditional and cozy, but very airy with all the windows open. Beautiful, well-kept property. Great location on Loon Lake, near some great places to eat.
The Cabin was spacious and very clean. The property was well maintained , located right on the lake! Serene with an array of wildlife. Loons! The kitchen was clean, modern with all the amenities for cooking and entertaining. We truly enjoyed our time at this cabin on Loon Lake. We definitely would go back.
