What a lovely farmhouse experience off the beaten track...we loved it. The room is very rustic feeling, lighting a bit dim, and upstairs mattresses hard, but heater was great, atmosphere and decorations were so soothing...and the hosts were WONDERFUL! We even got to walk the horses back to their barn, kids have been talking about it non-stop since we got back...a magical place, HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try it out.

Amazing Unique Hotel but consider practical issues

Publié le 11 août 2018 sur Hotels
This property was a charming place with amazing hosts, Sonia/Santiago. Sonia was a lovely hostess and we enjoyed evening meals in the tavern and good breakfasts with tea, mocha coffee, breads/cheese/meats and eggs cooked to order. Sonia booked us a tour to the Uros and Taquile islands which we enjoyed very much (110 soles per person plus 60 Euros for the taxi). The room, while primitive (which we expected) was warm with a space heater and the beds were more comfortable than they looked. While we loved staying here, there are some practical issues to consider: our son became ill with food poisoning (not sure where) and it was a hard room/bathroom to be ill all night in. Also, we did not get any communication prior to our visit via email like we did in all of our other hotels. I only was able to contact them via our hotel receptionist in Cusco. They did have a taxi waiting for us (for over 2 hours since our bus broke..our taxi driver was amazing). One weird thing we only experienced at this hotel was that we paid EVERYTHING at the end (they kept a tab on paper). It was hard to know how much cash to have and the closes ATM was in Puno. It made me nervous that we wouldn't have enough cash. Also, I asked how much time we needed to get to Juliaca airport and she said 1 hour. We ended up missing our flight which ended up being very difficult to reschedule and cost us a lot of extra money to fix. Loved the hotel and Sonia but might do it differently if we did it again.

Muchos Saludos Santiago

Our family of four stayed here for one night at the end of July. It’s about a half hour cab ride from the bus terminal in Puno. We arrived at the hotel after dark, and were greeted very kindly by Santiago and Sonja. On winter evenings, the area gets very dark and chilly around 7pm, so we couldn’t tell how beautiful the place is until the morning - there is a lovely, sunny terrace, and an amazing view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We woke up to horses sunning themselves in the yard outside our unit. Breakfast and dinner were fresh and delicious; they are happy to accommodate timings for meals, and to make arrangements for horseback riding and boat trips. The service was exceedingly personalized, and the hosts were consistently communicative (note that not all of them speak English). We loved our stay, but we were surprised on arrival at how rustic this place is. It really is a farmhouse; some of the windows are not sealed/curtained, heaters are gas units in the rooms, and in our units, the (comfortable, clean) beds were accessed by a ladder to a loft. It is more like a cabin than a hotel, and NOT for people looking for luxury, but we really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have been there a bit longer!

Si gracias, efectivamente somos una estructura muy rústica y simple enmarcada en una concepción tradicional de habitad andino. Muchos saludos y gracias por sus comentarios.

Wonderful location away from city of Puno, provides the great view of lake Titikaka, yet offers the original taste of locals. Welcoming staffs are very helpful!
