Avis Waterfront Cottage 16

Cabin was recently renovated. Extremely clean and comfortable. Had a extras like towels, toiletries and bedding not usually found in fishing camps. Great river front location on the French River with fantastic view. Slight confusion on check in but staff was patient and it was sorted out quickly. Not just a fishing destination but good for families or anyone that likes nature.

We stayed three nights for thanksgiving weekend. Very good experience!

spent a lot of time on deck. Access to canoes and kayaks was wide open and well used by us. Swimming was a bit difficult for those not liking reeds in water but I was fine. A very pleasant stay. Thank you.

I booked a specific cottage based on the amount of people we had going. Host did not give any check in instructions, or info at all. I had to contact him to ask all questions I needed to know before check in and he still didn’t tell me all I needed to know. He didn’t even leave his number to be able to contact him so this was very inconvenient especially once we got to the property and found out that the cottage we had booked already had people in it. We were given keys to a much smaller cottage that what we payed for and I had to ask the lady at the front desk if she was willing to at least give us a cottage that was similar to what we had originally booked. She was kind enough to give us a different cottage that was a bit more spacious but still smaller than what I had booked, and proceeded to tell me that this host has been over booking people and leaving them to deal with upset customers upon arrival. I am so frustrated because I feel I have been scammed. I paid a lot of money for this cottage and didn’t even get what I paid for, I feel as if I have been scammed and this has made me think twice about booking on vrbo as this experience was very disappointing. I would advise people especially booking for groups over 7 people, be cautious about booking here because unfortunately you might not get the cottage you paid for. When I tried to get some type of refund the host would not cooperate after admitting that he over charged us. Extremely dissatisfied.

Cottage was well appointed, everything we needed in kitchen. Newly renovated, nice and clean. Even fold out couch was comfortable.

Nice spot if you just want to relax and read your book.
