Over all it was a decent stay, the bathroom was very dated but clean. The room itself was quite large, with a lack of a living room space. Sheets on the larger bed did not appear freshly changed which was quite off putting

Older hotel but clean and tidy. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the road. A little noisy on Saturday until about 2am. Our next stay we will get a room facing Collinwood St. Room was very large with a double and single comfortable bed. Bathroom was alittle dated but clean and functional

Staff was really helpful and nice. Area is central so a bit noisy and not very nice. Rooms are big, reasonable price but old and not well kept. There was a whole on the ceiling and mould in the bathroom, so probably not for a long stay.

We booked this place because it was cheap, so our expectations were set appropriately low — and we’re pleased to report they were met perfectly. The building has plenty of “character” (read: run down), and the noise levels meant you were never alone with your thoughts. If you’re after luxury, keep scrolling. If you want an affordable stay that delivers exactly what you pay for, this is absolutely it.

Sign needed on Alexander St entrance to carpark, City Hotel dominates, nothing to say VR parking as google takes to Alex st not Victoria St. Back entrance from parking is very unprof, messy could use spruce up.

The staff member that greeted us on arrival was rather abrupt and unfriendly. The room was good. There was a note in the bathroom about it being slippery and we were very careful but I think providing a mat or a couple of bath mats would have helped. Particularly after a shower the entire floor was wet.

The rooms are tidy and a generous size. Location is great and we did expect a level of noise being right in the CBD but it was incredibly noisy and we barely got any sleep. We heard fights outside on the road in the wee hours of the morning. Such a shame because the hotel and facilities are nice and great for the price, shame Hamilton a night is so feral.
