Being on"Rodeo Drive" i expected more. No nice gift shop. Pillows were like straw and bed not that comfortable. Our room and balcony overlooked the next door hotel hvac units, so could not enjoy a view and noisy 24/7. Staff was nice and accommodating.

The hotel is conveniently located on the main shopping strip, a block back from the beach. So be mindful, beach views are obstructed from hotels direct on the beach. However, most rooms are interconnecting rooms which we were not aware of. So the room next to us had young people who were up till 4:30 am and you can hear everything. Music playing and chatting all night. The doors are paper thin. We asked for a room change but did not get it until the third night after pleading for a change. They did apologise, but three nights were horrendous listening to the neighbours non stop. So if noise is an issue, be aware that the interconnecting rooms do not block out noise from your neighbours. The rooms themselves are clean and large enough. The ladies from rooms service were fantastic. Rooms cleaned perfectly. We also had breakfast included which wasn't quite what we expected. You receive a voucher for their cafe for a limited selection one bagel, croissant, waffle or pastry and a drink. The pool is small and does get busy. Not a huge amount of deck chairs. They have three covered kabanas with good shade which we sat in only to be told it costs $50USD to use. No thanks.

The hotel is clean and quiet. It is not on the beach- the beach is a short walk down a walkway across the street. If you have an oceanfront room, you do have a nice view of the ocean and Diamond Head. We got a notice that the management would enter our room if we did not have it cleaned. I was trying to save on laundering the linens, but we ended up having the maid every other day so the management would not enter the room.

Charging for a late check out is ridiculous, the best thing about the place were the parking attendants. Very noisy, and nothing they can do to help with that.

The service was good. The staff was friendly. The poor rating is based on the unexpected fees we got billed for after the fact. These included resort fees, taxes on resort fees, and fees I have no idea what they were for. These surprise fees totaled over $700. I have never had fees like these not disclosed and paid up front at the time of booking. The after the fact surprise that was not even disclosed at check out is my complaint.

Solo getaway

The bed wasn’t very comfortable, but the pillows were. Also, the shower door wouldn’t close all the way so there was water on the floor. Besides these, my stay was great! I came as a getaway from “life” and to see Cirque du Soleil’s Auana. The concierge (I think his name is James) was really nice and helpful.
