Peaceful well-appointed home at Treman Park
Summary: Idyllic Ithaca location tucked into the beautiful Robert H. Treman State Park, but still close to downtown, universities, local lakes, & wine trails.
Step out the door & onto the park's renowned waterfall-lined hiking trails. Quick stroll to the lower park playground & swimming hole.
Close to both Cornell (5 mi) & Ithaca College (4 mi).
Minutes to downtown restaurants & shopping.
Easy access to local lakes (Cayuga/5 mi Seneca/22mi) & their scenic wine trails.
The Space: Deck with Weber BBQ, firepit, and outdoor seating.
Cheerful basement with pool table, ping pong, darts, board games, and TV/DVD player.
Very well equipped kitchen.
Guest Access: Guests will have a private entrance and access to the entire house and outdoor areas.
There is a small mother-in-law apartment attached with a separate entrance, so please note there may be another car in the driveway, which has ample parking for several cars.
Getting Around: The house is 20 minutes from the Ithaca, NY airport (ITH) and 35 minutes to the Elmira, NY airport (ELM).
Public transportation (TCAT bus) has routes that stop at Treman Park (route 67) and Ithaca is serviced by both Uber and Lyft, which tend to have better rates and more reliable service that the local taxis.
I went with my family over July 4th and we had a lovely time. The house is beautiful with a great open-concept kitchen, and we used the grill and ate on the patio as well. The game room in the basement was great for evening time activities. The access to nature in the area is hard to beat. The swimming hole with the waterfall is walking distance from the house, and we did the hike to Lucifer Falls too. Much more in the way of hikes, waterfalls, and lakes was within a 15-30 minute drive. And, to top it off, we did a day of wine tastings along Seneca Lake. Perfect trip!
Our family of 6 (ages 3 to 68) thoroughly enjoyed our week stay. Many areas to congregate, with comfy quality furniture, including the deck. Cozy beds and plenty of fluffy towels. Kitchen well-equipped and well-supplied, but could use an update on pots and pans. Spent many nights around the fire pit. Walked to the playground and Enfield Falls to swim several times. Stairs to bedrooms are steep, as mentioned on other reviews, and master bedroom is open to downstairs. However, we found these to be simply minor inconveniences. Less than 15 minutes from town and areas of interest. Crystal was very quick to respond to an issue, which was much appreciated. A great hidden gem, and a perfect getaway!
We recently stayed at this property on our first trip to the Finger Lakes. We were drawn to the listing being close to the swimming hole in Robert Treeman park.
When we first arrived we had no issues getting in to the property. My husband had a momentary panic that there was no TV on site (joking) but eventually we found it in the basement.
We did cook a couple of times and the kitchen is appointed with anything you could need. There were several nice touches such as a coffee cake left for us to enjoy (it was delicious), chocolates by the bedside, and good products in the shower.
It was extremely hot during our stay and the window air did pretty well overall.
The deck outside and fire pit is just fabulous - we enjoyed it every morning but sadly couldn't use the firepit because it was SO HOT. That said - it looks awesome!
We were alittle confused and unsure at first how to find the basement because there is an in-law sweet that is occupied and we had to unlock a door to the space that had the washer and dryer, and basement access. (we were concerned we weren't supposed to be there). Once we figured out how to get to the basement though - we really enjoyed the pool table!
If you stay during the summer you absolutely have to visit that swimming hole. Personally I would just drive around the corner instead of walking.
Thanks for a great stay!~
This was our second time at Treman House - we had an amazing stay in March 2023 and decided to book it as soon as it was available for our son's graduation from IC this year. I can't begin to describe how INCREDIBLE Crystal and Jenn were as hosts! We had a lot of questions and a few special requests and all were taken care of. The place is impeccably clean, with LOTS of thick, fluffy towels!! (A pet peeve of mine is not having enough towels... absolutely NOT a problem here!!) The house is slightly off the beaten path (but only about 10 min from IC), which for graduation weekend was a HUGE plus!! It was so wonderful to have a busy day of celebrations and then come home to a QUIET and relaxing house!! I'd love to come back someday when I have time to explore all the parks and waterfalls. The ONLY downside to this house is that the master bedroom is a loft, so if you want to go to sleep early or sleep late, it can be a noise issue, but my family just went down to the basement to play pool and pingpong until I got up. And, the stairs up to the bedrooms are STEEP and narrow (my whole foot didn't fit on the step) so not the best for someone with mobility or stability issues. But otherwise, the worst part of the stay was having to pack up and leave, especially with no existing plans to come back. THANK YOU Crystal and Jenn from the bottom, middle, and top of our hearts for all the "little touches" that made our graduation celebration so special!!
Peaceful was a wonderful vacation location. . The house and surroundings were as described and the opportunities to hike and enjoy Ithaca and Treman Park were also just as expected. It is located on a road with only 1 other home. Very private! We were able to enjoy meals on the porch and toast marshmallows at the fire pit. My granndaughters loved the swimming hole and went there daily.. Thrilling! They made the short trip to Watkins Glen and hiked under waterfalls. We would recommend this location for multigenerstional trips or anyone who appreciated nature.I can only imagine how beautiful Peaceful would be inthe fall!
Our family stayed in this great home for five days, with family ages that spanned mid60s to a five-year-old. The home was perfectly set up with a spacious kitchen, dining area, great room space, and a wonderful, but very separate basement "playroom" with a TV, ping pong, and pool table, which the children especially loved. The back porch is lovely, and we had a fire one evening in the fire pit. The home feels private and is just a short walk into Treman park - 10 min. walk to the playground, and a 15-20 min. walk to the swimming area (depending on how fast little legs go). The master bedroom is open to the kitchen/great room area below, and while that wasn't an issue for us, it is something to note if early morning or late night kitchen/great room noises might be an issue. The location has quick access to eating places, groceries, and the rest of Ithaca. The hosts, Crystal and Brandon, are incredibly kind and fun to talk to! The home is a modernized old farmhouse, which we loved. The stairs going to the three bedrooms are steep - as they often are in an old house, and easily negotiable, but something to note if you have trouble with stairs. All of the bedrooms are on the second story, but there is a pull-out couch option on the main floor. We loved our stay, and the home suited our family's needs very well. We are planning to return next year! Highly recommend!
This house was great - so comfortable and with amenities that we thoroughly enjoyed! We shot hoops, played pool and ping pong and enjoyed many smores over the fire pit. The location was convenient to Ithaca College where we had to go back and forth to. And the park setting was idyllic. And for the one low price you pay to drive into the park ($9) you can go to any of the other nearby parks. So after spending part of a day at the swimming pool, we then really enjoyed visiting Lucifer Falls. I would highly recommend staying at this home and would love to stay again myself if I find myself in the area.
The property was an old home modernized. Very stunning! It is tucked away in a very private area with hiking and a swimming area in walking distance. Although it was off the beaten path it was extremely convenient to so many restaurants, shopping, and state parks. We would highly recommend staying here if you enjoy the outdoors. On a side note, there is only one TV in the game area so if you require down time in the evening watching TV, I would bring a laptop or tablet.
This was our second stay at the Treman house. Our family gathered from several states for our grandaughterâs christening. Perfect spot for grandchildren to hike to the playground in Treman park! Lots of room for 10 of us. Kids enjoyed the rec room with pool table/ping pong! Kitchen is well equipped, beds very comfy and everyone enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning and the fire pit in the evening!
Close to Ithaca so we could enjoy all Ithaca has to offer! Crystal, our hostess, is always available if you have any questions. Thanks again Crystal for your wonderful almond coffee cake/coffee waiting for usâŠ. Just a special touch!
Looking forward to coming back and staying at your perfect home nestled near Treman park!
We stayed at this property for my daughters college graduation.
It was perfect!
The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, the property is beautifully located next to a state park with direct access. The âextrasâ, fire pit, pool table all distinguish this property.
I highly recommend.
