Great place to stay
Publié le 20 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a great time at this location. Very clean, comfortable house. An easy shorter walk to the dock to enjoy the lake. We caught many fish right from dock and had a blast! We definitely will be staying here again in the future.

Winter getaway
Publié le 16 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur family of 5 had a great time at the cabin. We spent the day skiing and came back to a warm cozy cabin with plenty of toys and movies for the kids. A great time to reconnect as a family.

Cheryl was so helpful when we had questions. Not far to drive for things to do ,although relaxing in the north woods with a beautiful lake view is really enough!

the shorefront isnt very swimmable (bottom is weedy) - there are areas in the lake that are better suited to swim.
if you want to bike will need to take bikes to trail or ride along busy road for a bit
would definitely come back as for us it was a fishing trip and this is a good fishing lake, and has good fishing from the dock if you dont have access to a boat

Thanks for visiting. Glad you enjoyed great fishing. Our kids always swim off the dock where the water is usually 4-5 feet deep depending on lake level that particular summer and they enjoy taking the paddle board over the more shallow areas by the inlet.
I bike the 10 mile loop around Smoky Lake and usually only see 2-4 cars in an hour. This route entails being on State Road 17 for about a mile of the route - as soon as 17 hits the Michigan border about 1/2 mile north it quits being a numbered road in Michigan and is even quieter. This biking route is fine for adults and older kids but little kids are better on a dedicated bike trail such as the one that connects the Ice Cream store in Phelps to the town of Conover (aptly named the Conover-Phelps Trail). That trailhead starts by the ice cream store and is about 7 minute drive from the house. We also love biking the 3 Eagle Trail in Eagle River.
In addition to fishing off the dock, our kids love taking the kayaks and canoe out on the lake. Smoky lake is about 3 miles long and if you kayak the circumference the trip is about 8 miles and takes a couple hours but is well worth it. 🙂

Complete Relaxation

The home was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The beds are all very comfortable!
The lake is so clear and refreshing! We enjoyed floating and swimming everyday! We rented a boat from Bubba’s and enjoyed cruising around the lake.
It was such a relaxing and peaceful stay! Great way to recharge before the new school year begins.
