Bungalow by the Lake
Publié le 8 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayThe home is on a finger of Claytor Lake, which was quiet and out of the wind. It is eclectic with kitchen on bottom level and living room area on the second level. You can access both levels independently from the driveway. Overall, comfortable for our needs given the weather wasn't great but we were in town for graduation.

Overall great stay
Publié le 2 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe owner was very accommodating and allowed us to check-in a little early.
Our kids loved going out on the Kayak and have insisted "we have to come back to this exact house in the Summer". They enjoyed figuring out and listening to the record player and playing games. There is no wifi & cell service only worked upstairs which forced them to put electronics down and interact (which I appreciated).
Its nice to kinda be secluded but everything in town was 15-20 min away which was great for us.

Claytor Lake Cabin

Great views and location
Publié le 1 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed our long weekend at the Hokie House. Location is great - quick ride into Radford and easy trip to VT. House is cozy and rustic, we found it very relaxing. The Solo stove was nice to gather around at night, and we enjoyed the steady stream of white tail visitors coming by as we had wine on the porch. We will come back for sure.

Great host and setting

There were some things that could have been cleaner but the overall stay was wonderful and the view is stellar.

Vacay
Publié le 29 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwaySpent a week at the Hokie House in July. Location was great. House on a cove with little to no boat traffic. Floated in the water, kayaked and jumped off the dock. Perfect and private water space. Steps down from the house are a little daunting but doable. House had everything we needed supplied. Towels and paper products included. Very private and secluded. Outside deck was great space. House is a little dated but did not detract from our stay. Would definitely recommend to others. Rented a pontoon boat from Mountain to lake marina (?). A wonderful addition to our vacation. They we’re very accommodating. Delivery and pickup right at out dock. Very enjoyable week.

Great location-dated home- needs cleaning
Publié le 26 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayArrived at the home, met the "cleaners" leaving. Dog feces was on the sidewalk, porch cushion's had so much mildew in them we were not able to use. Urine and feces in the bathroom toilets, sinks had soap residue as if not wiped down and the refrigerator had pink scum that we had to get out. Ceiling tiles showed leakage and stained. We contacted the owner and he said he would refund our cleaning fee which he did and send the "cleaners" back. We opted to start off our family vacation with a 30 minute clean up session ourselves. After we got past the cleanliness issues, we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen porch was where we stayed the most and enjoyed the fire pit. The owner is very responsive and willing to fix any issues, we just think he needs to do more inspections himself and make adjustments.

I'm deeply concerned about the issues you faced concerning cleanliness, mildew on the porch cushions, and the state of the bathrooms. These do not meet our high standards and I regret that these oversights occurred.
I want to assure you that since receiving your feedback, we have taken immediate and decisive action. Our maintenance team has addressed and rectified all the issues you mentioned, including the leaky ceiling and stained tiles. We have also had serious discussions with our cleaning staff to prevent such a lapse in cleanliness from occurring again in the future.
I’m glad to hear that despite these initial issues, your family was able to enjoy the remainder of your stay, particularly the kitchen porch and the fire pit. I truly appreciate your comments about my responsiveness and willingness to rectify the problems you encountered.

Highly recommend this property for a lake trip be prepared for a nice workout on the stairs to the lake but it's worth it as far as I am concerned:) THANK YOU!!!

Beautiful mountain and lake views
