The Space:

Welcome to Castillo View, your ideal retreat in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico! Castillo View offers the perfect blend of comfort and convenience for your stay in this vibrant city. With a spacious layout and a spectacular outdoor terrace, Castillo View is ideal for families or groups looking to experience the magic of Old San Juan firsthand.



This 3-bedroom unit boasts a washer and dryer, allowing you to pack light and enjoy a stress-free stay. The unit is fully air-conditioned.



IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS UNIT IS LOCATED ON THE THIRD FLOOR AND THERE IS NO ELEVATOR.





LIVING SPACES



Step inside and be greeted by a well-appointed and inviting space adorned with modern amenities. The spacious living room has ample seating and a TV so that you and your group can enjoy your favorite shows together. The living space also features a 4-person dining table. Castillo View has an amazing outdoor terrace, accessed through the living area, with an outdoor dining table and three outdoor sofas, perfect for an al fresco dining experience or to simply unwind with your group after an exciting day in the city.





SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS



Castillo View features three comfortable bedrooms. All bedrooms feature queen-sized beds, blackout curtains, and closet space. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a closet with a washer and dryer. The second bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The third bedroom has access to the outdoor terrace. In total, there are three full bathrooms with showers on the property: two within the bedrooms and one off the kitchen in the living spaces. They all include hotel-size amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to get you off to a comfortable start.



PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.





KITCHEN



Prepare your favorite meals in the spacious and convenient kitchen, equipped with a full-size refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, an oven, a dishwasher, and a four-burner stove. It is a fully equipped kitchen perfect for your extended stay. There is ample counter space, and it features additional seating for three guests.





GETTING AROUND



If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. **This property does not include parking.**



IMPORTANT: If you need to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate.





LOCATION



Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Castillo View, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located in the heart of it all, just steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab or Uber from the airport and using Uber while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road-tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.



There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:



Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.



Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.



Breakfast at “La Mallorca”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.



Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.



Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.

STARTER AMENITIES



At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay.



All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest.



We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include:



- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom)

- 3 garbage bags

- 1 roll of paper towels

- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom)

- 1 dish soap

- 1 dish sponge

- A small amount of laundry detergent



Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay.



Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation.





HOUSE RULES



RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated.



NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property.



QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors.



UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 6 adults/children at all times, including visitors.



OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund.



TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items.



TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated.



SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted.





CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES



Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that.



If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule.



If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival.



Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.





TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON



We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues.



Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase.

There were severalMaintenance issues; dishwasher would never cut on. Outlet at Master sink never reset, leak at foyer creating a slippery surface, Front door needs adjusting - scraped floor if opened too far. Great location; we did not know the unit was located on the 3rd floor and was a challenge with large/heavy suitcases. It could have been we did not notice this in the description. Never figured out the tv and was not included in instructions. We added YouTube tv, but could not ever get live tv.

Great Location and spacious accomodations

This was the first year we have chosen to stay in Old San Juan and it was great. The Castillo View apartments are situated perfectly. An easy walk to resataurants, bars, the Castillo etc. so much to explore! The penthouse at Castillo view has comfortable rooms, an expansive wrap-around veranda and well appointed kitchen. We loved our stay and were sad to leave!

Wonderful Place in the heart of Old San Juan

This place was great! We enjoyed our stay. It was mostly clean, however, there were a few missed details in the cleaning, there were some popped balloons from what we assume was the previous guests, and there was broken glass on the patio. but these were minimal and easy to fix on our own. Everything else about the property was amazing. such a great location, right in the middle of everything. We would recommend this place and will definitely consider it next time.

The penthouse is located right in the heart of old San Juan perfect location to walk to many sites to see restaurants to partake in and very very enjoyable. Comfort of the penthouse was very good. The only issue we had where they did not supply us the proper amount of linens, but we survived anyway.

Great place

We stayed at this property for about a week in late fall. It is a great location right in the middle of Old San Juan. Clean. Spacious. Met and even exceeded expectations. The terrace is very large, wrapping around the full length of the unit on two sides and quite wide. The owner was very responsive to inquiries and requests. It was very quiet at night in the master bedroom and the middle interior bedroom. Both of these bedrooms have their own bathroom with shower. The third bedroom abuts the terrace but even that was pretty quiet at night. The third bathroom with shower opens to the large common area so those in the third bedroom used that one. The kitchen was modern. We mostly ate out but it had everything we needed for daily breakfast, a spaghetti dinner, popcorn, snacks, and drinks. The unit is a third floor walkup. There is a grocery store and drug store a block away. Easy walking distance to all sites and restaurants. If you are staying in Old San Juan, you do not need nor want a car. We rented one for some day trips and parked about 5 blocks away at the Estacionamiento La Puntilla (3 per day outside and sometimes can be full but really no issues); there are garages on the same block that are more expensive and seemed to be very tight, and seem more likely to be full. In summary, we would definitely stay here again.
