Avis pour Dhora Desert Resort & Spa By Eight Continents
I visited Dhora with my wife for a one-night getaway and our experience was simply outstanding. The resort itself is breathtaking; the owners/hosts are an amazing couple; and the area is ethereal. Glamping here was quite different from glamping in other places because the owners have taken extra care to ensure maximum privacy (for instance, each tent is well separated from its neighbors) and complete unison with the surrounding ecology, which has been left undisturbed and enriched. For instance, our tent overlooked a beautiful waterhole that the owners constructed to help the local fauna. The tents are tastefully decorated with all the amenities you would expect in a regular top notch hotel. One of the highlights is the open-roof mud-walled shower area that adjoins each tent, and makes for a unique shower-under-the-night/day-sky experience. The common areas (dining, pool) are beautifully adorned with local Rajasthani art & designs; as well as an outstanding collection of books. Other highlights: food's good. The evening cultural shows are phenomenal. Among the available activities, my personal favorite was the camel ride to the peak of the dune for a once-in-a-lifetime view of sunset in the Thar. If you are visiting India, this would be one resort that you would not want to miss.
