Fun Location for kids!

Our families had a great time at the lake house! The dock boat and sandbar were amazing and the neighbors were very kind. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The property manager was very helpful and accommodating! Thank you! The only room for improvement I would suggest is to place an AC unit upstairs as it was a bit hot. That’s it! Thanks again!

Dirty, hidden charges, and incorrect listing

They didn’t tell us about the deposit for the floating dock, it wasn’t cleaned well for the amount of money we payed to have it cleaned, and the AC was only in the bedroom not the whole house. The air conditioning is a big issue. You can’t say its air conditioned if its one room. The floating dock is listed as included in the listing and a few days before we are told their is a deposit and we need to pay in cash. Seems like a scam but i agreed to pay it. I supposedly broke a pole but instead of arguing i just paid them. I didn’t want to cause an issue over $60. The fridge did not seal properly and was not cool, one of the burners was broken on the grill, and all the beds were uncomfortable. The beds are uncomfortable because they do not have box springs. I have never seen a futon in the kitchen count as a bed count. What a weird place to put a bed? When i complained about the floating dock deposit, i was told i could get a refund but that is not the point. The owners need to realize families spend their vacations to relax and be comfortable and not worry about last minute price hikes and dirty houses. They were not doing me a favor by renting to me but that is how i felt. The property manager who lives next door was nice but it seems like the owners have an attitude of “if you don’t like my last minute price hike - get lost”. Owners have a poor attitude and just want to make a buck with no regard to renters. They need to provide honesty in the listing, no hidden costs, and cleanliness (especially in the pandemic).

Thank you for staying in the house. We are sorry you had a bad experience. However i wanted to clarify some points for purpose of accuracy. The dock is FREE - we do ask for a cash deposit and it’s returned to you in full when you are leaving and the property manager checks that nothing is broken and the motor is fine. The house also provides all boats at no cost. This is outlined in details on the listing. We encourage you to read it fully. All beds in the house are new. The futon in the kitchen is for people to keep company when someone is cooking. This is not just a rental property. The house had brand new stove, dishwasher etc. Property manager is next door so that you can get any help if you need. I hope you find a better place next time.

Plenty of room for 7, clean, great location. The dock boat was great! Will be back next year.

AVOID THIS HOUSE LIKE THE PLAGUE

This house is not worth the price that was paid due to the numerous problems we had with the house’s condition and the property manger/owners. The house is not well kept with cobwebs everywhere and unwashed floors and surfaces. The current pictures on the ad are from the old owners and do not reflect the current setup/condition of the house. When we first moved in and checked the kitchen for space for our stuff, food was caked on to some utensils, we had to run everything through the dishwasher and all the counters had to be washed. After about an hour of moving in, we checked the bottom of our socks since shoes aren’t allowed in the house and they were black from just being in the kitchen. Then contacting the property manager did not help at all. The property manager was completely unprofessional with handling our situation and kept making excuses or deflecting as to the problems we were having with the house. The property manager contacted the owners who also were no help at all, by this time we were 3 hours into moving into the house. The owners said we had 2 options to either leave with a full refund or stay with no discount to compensate us for that we had deal with. Unfortunately for us the amount of work that went into unpacking, and the idea of packing back up and going home was not in the cards for us. The other thing that caught us by surprise was the unusual about of cash deposit wanted to use the floating raft. That was not listed on the ad for the house and because of all the problems we had with the manager & owners we decided it was best to not give them the cash deposit and just not bother to use the raft. We ended up making the best out of the situation. However we did contact VRBO to see if they could help and they were unable to do anything, we were informed that the owners have final say. Do not bother renting this property, it will be a waste of your money. Star Lake itself was beautiful but avoid this house like a plague.

We are sorry Darla to receive this review. We have filed an official complaint during your stay as you know on Day 1 of your arrival. You were harassing the property manager, you broke rules and smoke on the property (we waved your $500 fine for that because we wanted you out). You have been asking about discount from day one even though you received it. We wish you all the best in the future but we will not be hosting you at any of the properties. It’s simply not worth it. Be well
