Grundsätzlich ein sehr schönes Hotel. Das Frühstück war super mit einer tollen Auswahl. Auch das Zimmer war sauber. Allerdings sind es Kleinigkeiten, die es dann doch abwerten. Die Gardinen hang nicht in allen Ösen fest, die Elektrik kam aus der Wand, das Holz an den Türen war abgesplittert. Dingen die schnell zu beheben sind und nicht direkt auffallen.

Loved the rooftop bar but that was about all. The corridors were very dark and the rooms had no drawers for clothes, just hanging space. The worst thing was the building work opposite the breakfast and pool area, this created noise and dust and I feel we should have been advised of this before travel - we actually came home 2 days early as we had booked for my birthday and it was really disappointing.

Lovely hotel in an amazing resort

A lovely hotel in the most beautiful résort. Rooms were nice and clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Pool area spotlessly clean and plenty of Sun loungers. Breakfast was delicious All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are planning to return to Tavira in the future and will stay again at the Maria Nova.

Adults only. Room was nice and had everything we needed. Rooftop bar permitted children whiich is odd for a adults only hotel, explanation was rooftop bar is opened to public. Could have more staff in bar and in the restaurant at breakfast, some days tables not cleared. There is construction work right opposite rear of hotel where pool area is situated, which resulted in some very loud noise and dust. We were not made aware of this. We will ho back but when the construction work has finished. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

This was a lovely hotel in a great central location for visiting Tavira. Although we did not take advantage of many facilities, the pool was excellent. Much larger and deeper than most city hotels and great for swimming. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the piano player every morning playing a great variety of easy listening music.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel was clean, tidy and well maintained, the service at reception was good, the food and service at the restaurant was excellent, we were HB, never had a bad meal. The service at the pool bar and restaurant was very good. Our room was big, comfortable, however we arrived at 9.30pm and the additional quilt we had requested and agreed by the hotel for a guest with very bad arthritis was not provided (in house management issue), this issue eventually sorted and bed made by guests. We used the terrace bar one evening but had to wait 30 minutes for 1 beer and 1 soft drink while cocktails took priority, we did not use that bar again (I note it was an issue previously raised - management should monitor and provide assistance and not merely make platitudes in reply to reviews). Local area, there is a landscaping protect being undertaken at the back of the hotel, at times it was both noisy and dusty by the poolside, however it was noted the project site were constantly damping the area throughout the day. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel just a shame about the arrival and the bar. The external issue is clearly outside of the hotels control. Tavira, a lovely ancient town, is undergoing much renovation work " very slowly!" There are many restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk of the hotel but there is no noisy night life. Although I have mentioned a couple of negative areas we had a lovely stay and would happily return.

I am afraid, my overall impression of our stay at this Hotel, was not up to our expectations. Based on the Hotels 4* rating, it certainly does not live up to it. Our first impressions as we went from Reception, through the glass doors to walk to the pool, were disappointing. The Doors and Glass Bannisters were very dirty and you could see had not been cleaned at all. I appreciate that you have the building work opposite creating dust (Which was a surprise in itself and obviously disappointing) however these could be simply wiped down am and pm to improve the look of the Hotel. We then went to the Pool Bar for our first drink and light lunch only to be handed a Menu that was old, dirty and tatty, not the best impression and made us wonder what the food would be like. Service was very hit and miss sometimes we waited for a long time when the bar was not too busy and I would end up going to the bar to order drinks/food myself. The drinks/food terrace area is not big enough for the number of guests at lunch time. The patio area has weeds growing through the cracks, which is not a good impression and easily remedied. The Sunbeds are old and uncomfortable as they have stretched too much, the Umbrellas dirty, broken and old. Breakfast however was plentiful and well run. It would have been nice to have some Portuguese dishes rather than just English food. Room cleaning generally good. Overall the Hotel is looking very tired and in need of some updating.

Fab relaxed hotel

We loved our stay at this hotel. The hotel was stylish, relaxed and a few minutes walk into beautiful Tavira. The communal areas, rooftop bar, pool and breakfast were particularly good, drinks and bar food prices were very reasonable. The rooms were maybe not quite so stylish but very comfortable with good size balconies. Staff were v helpful and attentive. We would stay again.

This was our second stay at Maria Nova. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and hard working. Rooms are adequate and cleaned most days. Breakfast is very good considering it’s included in stay. Although hotel is beginning to look a little tired around edges. I think it is very well priced and should meet most people’s expectations.

Overall a good hotel

The hotel was in a great location for walking into town. The staff were excellent. Our room provided all we required and was cleaned regularly and bedding and towels changed during our 8 night stay. However the fridge did not keep particularly cold and it would be helpful to have a freezer section for ice. The pool was a very good size but the sunbeds were dated. Overall we felt the hotel could do with updating. Although the breakfast provided many different options our feeling was that some could be better quality. The orange juice was watery (it did not help that nearly half the dispenser was ice so as that melted it became weaker!). We had seen several reviews before our stay mentioning this (especially when there are oranges growing locally!) and staff commented they’d look into this yet obviously nothing has been done. The bread and coffee were also poor. It does not appear you can book a room without breakfast which we would prefer in view of these aspects. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again.
