Our lovely houseboat is only 22 minutes from Amsterdam Center! Go by car, by train and bike or by direct bus (that stops around the corner)! The world famous windmills are 5 min by (free!) bike or go there with our motorboat in 20 minutes! Discover the beautiful countryside and nature area around the houseboat, visit Amsterdam and relax afterwards on the water terrace or in the sunny garden! And across the road is my favorite restaurant!

Free bikes (also for kids), motorboat costs only 25 euros for your stay.

The houseboat
Very close to Amsterdam Center you can enjoy living on the water in beautiful surroundings! Enjoy the fantastic views over the water from every room, feed ducks and swans from the living room windows and relax on the sunny water terrace or in the sunny garden! The location is great, very close to Amsterdam and the world famous Zaanse Schans windmills and across the road is the beautiful Dutch countryside. The ideal base to explore the area and afterwards come back to relax in our sunny garden or on the water terrace!

Take the free bikes to explore the area and take our motorboat to visit the windmills from the water and go into the beautiful nature area (1 minute), which is a typical Dutch wetland / polder area! (The motorboat costs 25 euros for your whole stay!)

About the houseboat
The houseboat has a sunny living room with beautiful views over the water and into the garden through the big sliding doors. All the rooms have central heating. There are 2 bright bedrooms with large windows both overlooking the canal and the garden. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has 2 single beds which can be made into a double bed on request. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee bean machine for freshly ground coffee and a new bathroom with shower and toilet. You can enjoy the sunny terrace boat from where you can enjoy the houseboat experience or enjoy the sunny garden with terrace over the water! The terrace is accessible from the living room through the big sliding doors, from which you have a nice view over the garden!

We have free bikes available, also for kids, and also with a child seat. You can use them to explore the area (see below), and go to the train station (7 min by bike).

There's free parking across the road from the houseboat.
We have NETFLIX on the TV and a lot of games for children and the whole family (or friends of course!)
You can use our washing machine and dryer for free.

You'll love to stay here because you can:
* Visit Amsterdam, you'll be there in 20 - 25 minutes depending if you go there by car or public transport (or a combination). Not only at Central station, but really the heart of the city!
* Bike to the world famous Zaanse Schans windmills in 5 min via our special bike route along houseboats and the beautiful wooden houses of Haaldersbroek (must see!), or drive there by car in 2 minutes (!)
* Walk across the road to see the beautiful Dutch wetland nature area! Have a pick-nick on the dike overseeing the wetland, with the Zaanse Schans windmills in the background!
* Take the boat and go to the nature area, go under the bridge and you're there! This is an Amsterdam wetland, typical for the Netherlands!
* And have a drink or great meal at my favorite restaurant Heerenhuis (across the road)!
* Relax at one of the swimming beaches Jagersveld at 5 min by bike or car.
* Explore the area by bike via our special bike route! You can take 1 hour up to half a day, depending on your stops.
* Explore the larger area by car using our special car tour route which can take you up to 1 day and shows the nicest places in the area, like the fishing villages Edam / Volendam, the typical dutch wetlands, the beach, the Keukenhof tulip gardens and the cheese city Alkmaar.

The houseboat is located on the main access road to the highway, and a good bicycle track to the Zaanse Schans and train station.

The houseboat, garden, water terrace and boat are all for your private use.
Bikes are for free, please take care of them!
The boat is available upon request and agreement to our rules and costs 25 euros for you whole stay if you want to take it out to boat.

Relaxing Stay

What a relaxing stay at the boathouse! Our host was extremely responsive to communication and truly made us feel at home. There were detailed instructions and many recommendations for the area. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable! The boat and bikes were the perfect touch. We were able to explore the local area with ease we definitely recommend this stay!

Lovely houseboat

The houseboat was in a great location for us - really easy to get the bus into Amsterdam, but quiet and near to the countryside. The bikes made it easy to see the windmills and explore the nature reserve nearby. Check in was easy and all communication was friendly and helpful. We wanted a good base where we could explore more than just the city. There’s a good supermarket a short walk away, so it was easy for us to self-cater. We loved our stay!

The property was excellent, exactly as described on the VRBO site. We made use of the bicycles, included in the price, and thoroughly enjoyed riding around the area! We really enjoyed our stay on the houseboat. The place itself was great and we had plenty of space for our family of 4. The location was close to the windmills and we used the included bikes and boat to view them. The host was very responsive with any inquiries we had. The only issue we had was with the boat running out of battery power on the way back from the windmills, so we had to paddle. The host reached out and resolved it quickly. An added perk was the restaurant across the road which had awesome food. We would definitely stay again

A taste of country life

The houseboat was immaculate and the host was super helpful. Anouk sent helpful tips via email about how to best explore the area. The bikes and optional boat were in great condition and really allowed us to have an immersive experience. The notebook that Anouk left on the table was super helpful and was better structured than many travel guides I've bought in the past. The restaurant recommendations were also spot on and overall it was the best accommodations I've ever enjoyed while travelling. Thank you so much!

Family Trip

We really enjoyed our stay. 2 Adults and 2 children (11&9). Location is outside of the city center but it was good to be near the windmills, have the use of the boat and the bikes which we would not have had if we had been in the city center. Children really liked staying on the houseboat. We bought food from the Dekemart and ate at Het Heerenhuis twice which was very good. Uses Uber and the bus to get around as well as the bikes. Good communication with the host and they dealt with the only issue we had quickly (heating control was not working).

Lovely stay!

We had a lovely stay at the houseboat! The place is in a great location and not far from the airport (we came by car). The houseboat is very spacious and clean, and has lovely views over the water. It’s decorated nicely and is a peaceful, calm place to stay for a break! The gift left on the table was a lovely touch that we really appreciated :). We went on the boat to the windmills and went for dinner at Het Heerenhuis just literally across the road which is lovely too, very cosy after an afternoon on the water. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud! Very comfy! Anouk has the best communication of probably any place I’ve ever booked and is very kind and helpful should you need any assistance. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Fabulous houseboat, excellent stay!

We loved staying on the houseboat! The beautiful view over the water made us wake up with a smile very morning! The location near the windmills and restaurants is fantastic, and getting into Amsterdam is easy and convenient. What we loved best was taking the motorboat out to the windmills, that is a once in a lifetime experience! And we loved touring by bike and exploring the area, it's beautiful! The houseboat is very clean and nicely furnished with everything we needed. We especially appreciated the extensive information book that provided tons of information on places to go, things to see, where to eat and shop, etc. Communication was excellent, Anouk is a fantastic host. We'd love to come back some day! Thank you Anouk!

Séjour agréable, à 40mn de la Central Station d’Amsterdam par le bus 391, d’où on peut visiter la ville et les environs à pied, en bus, en tram, en train,en ferry… Découvrir les moulins à vent avec le bateau électrique est un must ! Le restaurant Herenhuis d’à côté est à recommander, car accueillant, animé ,à la nourriture proposée excellente .

La maison est charmante et conforme à la description avec une bonne literie. Bonne communication avec l'hôte et un bon accueil. En revanche, l'environnement est très bruyant avec énormément de trafic automobile même de nuit avec des passages de bus et poids lourds. Je tiens également à préciser qu'il n'y a pas de vélos pour enfants disponibles.

Simplement fantastique

L’endroit idéal pour passer quelques jours à découvrir Noord Holland, Amsterdam et De Zaanse Schans. La péniche est parfaite, propre et son petit bateau vous permettra de naviguer sur les canaux et de contempler de magnifiques moulins. Heerlijk weekend met vrienden

We hebben een erg leuk weekend gehad op de boot van Anouk. We hadden een paar dagen regen en konden daardoor noch fietsen, noch varen, maar de boot biedt genoeg gezelligheid om daar prettig te verblijven. Het Heerenhuis aan de overkant is heel leuk om te eten. Vanuit Wormerveer (leuk Grieks restaurant vlakbij station!) is er een prima treinverbinding naar Amsterdam! Sehr schöne Unterkunft

Alles sauber, sehr gute Ausstattung, gute Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber. Besonders schön ist die Direktanbindung per Bus nach Amsterdam (die jedoch teurer ausfällt als in der Infomappe angegeben). Wir hatten ein schöne Zeit und haben uns gut erholt.
