What you can expect
Pickup from Your Location
Your journey begins with a warm welcome from your driver and local guide at your hotel or preferred pickup point in Lucknow. Enjoy glimpses of local life as you drive through tree-lined boulevards and the bustling heart of the city.
Bara Imambara & Bhool Bhulaiya
Your first stop is the majestic Bara Imambara, one of the largest arched halls in the world. Built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, this monument stands as a symbol of architectural ingenuity and humanitarian vision — constructed as part of a famine relief project. Explore its massive central hall, known for its unique vaulted ceiling built without iron supports.
Next, step into the mysterious Bhool Bhulaiya, the labyrinth inside the Imambara complex. Wander through narrow corridors and stairways that twist and turn in all directions — a thrilling maze designed to confuse invaders. From the rooftop, take in panoramic views of old Lucknow’s skyline, dotted with domes and minarets that whisper stories of a glorious past.
Chota Imambara & Rumi Darwaza
Continue your heritage walk to the nearby Chota Imambara, often called the “Palace of Lights.” Built in the 19th century by Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah, it is adorned with elaborate chandeliers, glass lamps, and Persian calligraphy. The shrine’s intricate detailing and reflective beauty are especially captivating when sunlight filters through its coloured glass windows.
Just outside, marvel at the stunning Rumi Darwaza, a 60-foot-tall gateway that once served as the ceremonial entrance to the city. Its grand Mughal-style arch, modelled on Istanbul’s gateways, perfectly symbolises Lucknow’s fusion of Indo-Islamic artistry and royal flair.
Picture Gallery
The Picture Gallery houses life-sized portraits of the Nawabs, painted in vibrant oils. Each portrait tells the storey of Lucknow’s rulers — their vision, their patronage of the arts, and their refined sense of culture.
Royal Café (Snacks and Chaat Experience)
stop by Royal Cafe, a culinary institution famous for serving some of India’s best street food in a safe, hygienic setting. The must-try here is the iconic Basket Chaat
Chikan Fabric Market Visit
If you’re interested in traditional arts and crafts, your driver can take you to a local.
Chikan fabric market
Lucknow’s Chikan embroidery is world-famous for its delicate handwork and intricate detailing, often done on fine cotton or silk.
Janeshwar Mishra Park
Next, head to Janeshwar Mishra Park, Asia’s largest urban park and one of Lucknow’s most peaceful green escapes. Spread over 375 acres, the park offers beautifully landscaped gardens, wide cycling tracks, and tranquil lakes.
Ambedkar Memorial Park
Conclude your journey with a visit to the magnificent Ambedkar Memorial Park, a modern masterpiece that stands as a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other great social reformers. Spanning acres of red sandstone brought from Rajasthan, this sprawling complex combines grandeur with meaning.
