Explore the sheltered coastline of Kilchattan Bay on the beautiful Isle of Bute with a flexible self-led watersports session. Choose the craft that suits you best—a single sit-on kayak, a double sit-on kayak, or a stand-up paddleboard (SUP)—and enjoy a fun way to get out on the water surrounded by classic Scottish seaside scenery.
Your session starts at the Old Pier where you’ll be welcomed by the team and given a short safety briefing before launching. You’ll be fitted with the required safety equipment and, for kayaking, you’ll also receive a spray top. Each paddling group is issued with a floating waterproof walkie talkie, making it easy to stay in contact with shore support during your time on the bay.
Once on the water, set your own pace: take a relaxed paddle along the coastline, enjoy the views back towards the shore, and keep watch for local wildlife such as seabirds and seals that are often spotted in the area. The stable sit-on designs make this experience accessible for beginners, while still offering plenty of fun for more confident paddlers.
Choose between 90 minutes or 2 hours, making it easy to fit into your day—whether you’re planning a family outing, a couples’ adventure, or a laid-back solo paddle. All hires are weather- and tide-dependent and may be adjusted by staff to keep everyone safe and comfortable on the water.
