What you can expect

  • Friedrichshain is where Berlin keeps its edge. The Wall ran alongside it for decades, marking the boundary between two worlds. When it fell, artists moved in. Restaurants followed the artists. And through all of it, the food kept changing. Turkish workers who arrived after the war and never left, Syrian families who came in 2015 and opened restaurants, Vietnamese street food cooks who turned a neon-lit corner into one of the neighborhood's most visited spots.

This three-hour small group walking food tour brings you through that history as you eat it. You start with a classic Döner Kebab where your guide covers the Turkish immigration to Berlin that made this the city's unofficial national dish. At Aleppo Supper Club, a bowl of metabal, the Syrian smoked aubergine and tahini dip, with a homebrew beer and the story of Berlin's more recent arrivals. Fusion Vietnamese tacos at Nyom. A stop at the RAW Gelände, a former imperial rail yard turned arts complex, before currywurst at Curry 36, where you learn the scrappy story of our most iconic street food.

Caramelized nuts to finish, then to the East Side Gallery, the largest piece of the Berlin Wall left standing, and the world's largest open-air art gallery.

Come and experience the best that 80 years of Berlin has to offer!
