The Guardian Building

  • 10m
The Guardian Building is one of Detroit’s most stunning Art Deco skyscrapers, located in the Financial District. Completed in 1929, it is often called the “Cathedral of Finance” due to its richly decorated interior featuring colourful tiles, mosaics, and intricate patterns designed by Wirt C. Rowland. The exterior blends bold geometric design with Native American-inspired details. Today, it remains a symbol of Detroit’s architectural heritage and is listed as a National Historic Landmark.

Surrounded by beautifully restored historic buildings, modern apartments, cafés, and shops, the park reflects Detroit’s blend of past and present. At its centre stands a statue of Civil War hero Stevens T. Mason, Michigan’s first governor. Today, Capitol Park is a lively area symbolising Detroit’s renewal and urban revival.

Book Tower
