What you can expect

Take a day trip from Valencia to see the picturesque towns of Morella and Peñíscola. Visit their historical centers as well as Morella Castle, the cloister, and the main church with a guide.

Meet your tour at one of the designated points in Valencia. Begin your journey with a two-hour drive along the Levantine coast to the town of Morella.

A local guide will guide will take you along the route as you climb the sloping cobbled streets so characteristic of Morella. Stop at the historic castle that sits atop the town.

As you enter this Islamic fortress built in the 12th century, discover the importance it acquired for the Crown of Aragon.

Afterwards, take some free time to continue exploring Morella at your leisure. Enjoy a typical Morellana meal included in the excursion. Taste some local food or admire the different local craft stalls. Next, you'll get back on the road and head east until you reach Peñíscola.

Here, you'll check out Papa Luna Castle, located on top of a rock on the seashore. This fortress served as a palace and personal library for the famous Pope Luna, one of the most controversial religious figures in the history of Spain.

After your visit to the old town of Peñíscola, which houses samples of Muslim, Roman, and Templar architecture, you'll visit some sights in town, such as the Shell House and the Bufador.

Follow the route of the old wall that protected the city as you explore this charming old town. When you're finished, get transferred back to Valencia.
