What you can expect

Seasonality, local products, austerity, harmony with nature, gratitude are values that have inspired our relationship with nature from time immemorial. At Forn de sa Llotgeta we believe that traditional food cultures are a great source of knowledge to help us address major sustainability challenges, including the way we experiment our travel experiences.

In this workshop, our cultural approach to cooking will allow you to explore Mallorca’s finest terroir, typical dishes and culinary traditions following family recipes and the island’s food calendar: from key seasonal ingredients to iconic products, all paired with organic wines and a sustainable food ethos.

We collaborate with small producers & farmers to bridge your culinary experience with the most genuine artisanal food production of Mallorca. You will not only enjoy the taste of their passionate and hard work but also have the opportunity to take with you the ingredients and materials used during the workshop for you to replicate the recipes and bring home the authentic taste of Mallorca.

We have create this experience to connect in a deep, sincere and immersive way with our culture and honour traditional local food. Our open groups are kept small with a maximum of 8 pax, to offer an intimate experience. If you prefer full exclusivity, the courses can also be made private from 2 to 15 pax, subject to availability. The courses are not recommended for kids under 10, but they are welcome in private groups.

Located in the centre of Palma, 10 minutes from our culinary studio, Mercado del Olivar is the largest typical market in the city. This stroll will allow you to delve in its vibrant Mediterranean atmosphere. We will go through its fruit, fish and delicacies stall, meet the vendors and source some of the ingredients needed for our workshop.

Once at the culinary studio, we will start a hands-on cooking workshop to prepare a complete Mallorcan seasonal menu together. Including an aperitif, starter, main, dessert and of course local wine.

IMPORTANT: We offer this workshop in two versions, a morning activity that includes the market visit and an evening experience with a traditional aperitif prior to the workshop directly at Forn de sa Llotgeta (because the market is closed in the evenings/on Sundays and public holidays).

Sample Menu

Local cold meats and artisan cheeses with grapes and almonds
Mallorcan flatbread with greens and raisins
Artichokes & sobrasada meloso rice cooked in clay pot (greixonera)
Gató (almond cake) with almond ice cream

All the ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced. Animal protein is very important to understand traditional Mallorcan Food culture but this workshop can easily be made vegetarian or vegan for private groups. Please advise of any dietary requirements, we will do our best to accommodate the course to your needs.

Duration: 3.5-4h
