Explore one of the most beautiful places in Northern Europe with a tour through the spectacular scenery and historic sights of Gauja National Park. See the rivers, streams, soft hills, thick forests and exquisite caves of the Gauja River valley and old fortresses that date back to medieval times.

Your tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel and takes you through the illustrious countryside of northern Latvia. Recognised for both its beauty and historic importance, Gauja National Park is home to numerous castles and wooden fortifications dating back to the 11th century.

In the charming town of Sigulda, admire Sigulda New Castle, constructed at the end of the 19th century, and the ruins of Sigulda Old Castle, built in 1207 by the Livonian Order. Across the Gauja River in the village of Turaida, you can see the 18th-century Lutheran church, one of Latvia's oldest wooden churches.

In Turaida's Livonian graveyard, you can find the tomb of Maija, the legendary “Rose of Turaida”, before you visit the medieval red-brick structure of Turaida Castle, which stands on a hill above the village and has survived countless attacks.

At Gutmanis Cave, situated on the banks of the Gauja River, you can see the biggest and deepest cave in the whole Baltic region. The site has given rise to many stories and legends, the most famous being the “Rose of Turaida.” Take the opportunity to admire some of the cave paintings that adorn the walls before you return to Riga.

They were beautiful tour directors and we had so many laughs - there knowledge was fantastic. They took me to places I wanted to revisit and those not even on the itinerary. I had so much fun and thoroughly recommend to all.
