Overview

  • Discover Ragusa Ibla on your own means admiring its surface; crossing it with a local Tour Guide means making it breathe, tell and come to life.

Ragusa is not simply a city to be photographed: it is an urban enigma carved in limestone, born from the strength of a people who, after the devastating earthquake of 1693, was able to be reborn giving life to one of the most extraordinary Baroque in the world.

Why choose a guided walking tour:

Deciphering the language of Baroque: Behind the deformed masks of Palazzo Cosentini, the grotesque faces and carved shelves hide allegorical symbols, social satire and ancient apotropaic beliefs that only a Guide can reveal.

A journey between two eras: Walking along the historic staircase of Santa Maria delle Scale or along the avenues of the Hyblean Garden, you will discover how the medieval and Baroque cities blend, restoring the deep sense of a double architectural identity.

The main features to admire include : The Meschini and the Mascheroni Groteschi : The peculiarity of the building lies in the carved shelves in support of the balconies of the main floor, decorated with allegorical sculptures, grotesque figures, monsters, musicians and deformed masks with the aesthetic and apotropaic intent to chase away evil spirits.
