What you can expect

Your day will start with a visit to Arkadi Monastery, a must-visit for anyone interested in history and art. The monastery's central courtyard is surrounded by a fortified wall, and the Catholicon, also known as the Church of Arkadi Monastery, is located here.

Continuing your trip comes Ancient Eleutherna, an ancient city-state. Archaeologists excavated the site, located on a narrow northern spur of Mount Ida, the highest mountain in Crete. The sight includes dozens of inscriptions, sculptures, objects made of precious materials, exotic artefacts imported from the East, coins, metal utensils, and glass vases.

Your next stop is at Margarites Village. The history of Margarites can be traced back to the Minoan civilisation, which flourished in Crete from approximately 2700 to 1420 BCE. Archaeological evidence suggests that the village was a significant centre for pottery even during these ancient times. You will be amazed by the beautiful streets filled with colours.

Reaching Agreco Farms you will have a chance to enjoy the amazing Cretan cuisine, feed several wild animals, and be a farmer yourself as they have several activities.

Then you will get deep into Crete's mountains and mythology as you visit Melidoni cave. The Melidoni cave is also called “Gerondospilios”. It was used for religious ceremonies. During the Minoan Civilisation, it was a place of worship for Talos the bronze giant guardian of Crete who protected the island of Crete from enemies.

Right after discover the Potamon Lake which is at the end of the Patsos gorge, in a very green valley with some hillocks next to it. The lake is about 25 kilometres from Rethimno and is one of the most important water lands of the south-eastern Mediterranean. Its construction was completed in 2009.

Last but not least comes the Anogeia Village. Known for its intense Cretan culture and its great cuisine. Local music, folk art, and tradition are the elements that have remained unchanged over time since the inhabitants of the village carry them from generation to generation. The famous Cretan weavings almost monopolize the merchandise of the stores in central alleys and streets of the village, while the cafes are a meeting point for locals and tourists who make a stop to drink raki and taste Cretan dishes.
