What you can expect

Komame Shokudo Restaurant
Komame Shokudo restaurant located in the picturesque Nakayama area is known for its set menus which includes Onigiri rice balls made from locally-harvested rice. Other dishes include Shodoshima olive beef hamburgers and somen noodles produced at a nearby noodle factory.
You can enjoy the amazing rice field view from the restaurant balcony.

Nakayama Senmaida terraced rice field and rural kabuki theatre
We will visit Nakayama Senmaida (literally meaning 1000 sections of rice field), selected as one of the 100 best terraced rice fields in Japan. The terraced field sections are built with walls of rock from the island. Spring water from the top of Yufunesan mountain is used to irrigate the fields.
Also you do not want to miss a 300 year-old Rural Kabuki theatre, where the locals enjoy and celebrate the Kabuki plays once a year during the harvest time. The yearly Kabuki shows are performed by the local residents.

Kankakei Gorge
The Kankakei Gorge and its surrounding mountains are a great example of volcanic eruptions from millions of years ago. The gorge is located in the centre of Setonaikai National Park, and it is one of the largest gorges in Japan.
Enjoy the natural beauty that the planet has created.

Yamaroku Soya Sauce Brewery
The Yamaroku Soya Sauce brewery has been part of the Shodoshima landscape for more than 150 years. The Yamaroku Soya Sauce Brewery boasts its success to its flavourful and slowly fermented soya sauce to their method of brewing in hand crafted wooden barrels. Some of these barrels can be more than 100 years old.
Make sure to sample one of their many sauces including “Tsurubishio”, their flagship soya sauce, which is re-fermented for a period of four years, providing its rich taste and colour.
