What you can expect

Day 1: VISIT TO CUSCO
You start your day with a visit to Tambomachay, an Inca site in the Cusco region. Then cross Pukapukara, military fortress of the sacred valley under the Inca empire. You continue to Q'enqo, Inca sanctuary, then discover the site of Sacsayhuamán, on the heights of Cusco, with its huge blocks of stone.
In the afternoon, visit the city of Cusco with its Plaza de Armas, its imposing cathedral dating from the conquistadores, the Qoricancha also called temple of the sun and finally the convent of Santo Domingo. Free meals

Day 2: CUSCO – TAMBOMACHAY – TAUCCA
Today you go towards Tambomachay and you get to know your team of muleteers. Gradual climb to the first pass that dominates Cusco and its valley. Then, you discover the great geological fault of Ccorao, you note that the vegetation is becoming more and more rare. You go back to K'ehuna lagoon, there you have a beautiful view that offers you with the mountain range of Urubamba. You start your descent to reach the village of Tauca, this is where you will spend the night at your hosts. When you arrive in the community, families are waiting for you and introduce you to weaving and dyeing techniques. You go back to your respective families and then meet together for dinner.

Day 3: TAUCCA – HUCHUY QOSQO
Start on foot in the morning for the small village of Huata, you climb the Huallata pass, for the bravest of you, it is possible to climb up to 4400 m to enjoy the magical view of the lakes, the peaks and arid plains. You then descend to Huchuy Qosqo in Quechua “Little Cusco”, located in the sacred valley with a beautiful view of the Urubamba River. The vegetation changes little by little and becomes much denser, we find among others wild lupines. Your arrival at your hosts is scheduled at the end of the day. You settle in this peaceful community of the Sacred Valley, and some explanations are given to you how to cultivate the lands in the valley.

Day 4: HUCHUY QOSQO - PATABAMBA
Visit the Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo, one of the oldest in the region. You cross the site, while skirting the sacred valley by borrowing an old Inca Road used by the Inca messengers. You arrive at the community of Pucamarca, then, you continue with a beautiful hike through balconies through fields of oats and potatoes and other crops to join Patabamba. When you arrive in Patabamba, you are welcomed by the families of the village where you spend the night.

Day 5: PATABAMBA - PISAQ - AGUAS CALIENTES
Your day begins with the visit of Pisac and its famous traditional market, animated throughout the day and full of crafts such as pottery, ceramics, jewellery, but also fabrics. You also find food with all kinds of vegetables; some are unknown to you. You walk through the fortress with its terraces and pipes. Y Descent to the village before continuing towards Ollantaytambo visit of the fortress. Before the tour you will have lunch and after board the train that will take you to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival you will have the evening free to explore Aguas Calientes on your own. You will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 6: Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast, a Shuttlebus will take you to the Machu Picchu archaeological site, where you immediately begin a 2-hour guided tour of the entire Incan outpost.
Additional hikes need to be booked 3 to 5 months in advance as these depend on availability! these hikes need to be paid for in advance at booking!
If chosen in advance you can climb (Huayna Picchu ($75US per person)) or (Machu Picchu Mountain ($75US per person)) to appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu and the valleys below from a higher viewpoint.
After your visit, you will descend to Aguas Calientes have a leisurely lunch on your own, and later board the Expedition train which departs at 4:22 pm for the return trip to Cusco stopping at the Ollantaytambo train station where our driver will be waiting for you for your return trip to Cusco.
