Description

Discover the murkier side of Munich's recent history. Learn of the birth and development of the Nazi party with a tour of the significant sites. Your expert guide is on hand to provide important historical perspective as you witness how the area has rebuilt itself and has emerged as a brighter force.

Emerging from WWI was a broken Munich, ravaged by hyperinflation and humiliation in defeat. Learn how Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party took full advantage of the instability to rise to power. Visit Odeonsplatz, home to the Felderrnhalle, and the location of one of the clashes between state police and Nazi supporters as they sought to gain control of Bavaria.

Uncover the storey behind the White Rose group—whose members peacefully opposed Hitler’s dictatorship—and honour their struggle at the memorial in the Hofgarten. A dark era in Germany’s recent history, see how Munich has risen from the ashes and recaptured its beauty and magnificence from older, more celebrated times.

Guide was well informed but lacked confidence and was sometimes hard to understand. She did have an abundance of information to share. We did not cover as much distance as I expected and your size was too large with 30. Altogether I would recommend the experience.

Our guide had difficulty remembering information she wanted to share. There were numerous times when she would blank for 15-20 seconds at a time trying to remember what she wanted to say next. On many occasions she would say the wrong dates switching 18__ for 19__ and visa versa. Every free tour I have been on was better than this paid tour.
