The Aqueduct of Queretaro is a remarkable architectural structure and one of the most representative symbols of the city. This building has 74 arches that extend along 1,280 metres, with an average height of 28.5 metres. It was built in the 18th century, during the reign of Philip V of Spain, to supply water to the city. The aqueduct is a significant example of colonial-era engineering in Mexico and an important tourist and cultural attraction in Queretaro.

Panteon de los queretanos Ilustres

The Pantheon of Illustrious Queretanos is a place of great historical and cultural relevance in Queretaro. Among the personalities buried there are independence heroes, politicians, writers and other characters that have left a significant mark on the region. The cemetery is known for its sober and elegant architecture, which reflects the respect and admiration for the individuals who rest in this place.

Templo y ex-convento de la Santa Cruz de los Milagros

  • 30m
This site was founded in the 16th century and is known for being one of the first Franciscan convents in the region. The temple is famous for its colonial architecture and ornate interior, which includes gilded altarpieces, religious paintings and an outstanding image of the Holy Cross. The ex-convent, meanwhile, has witnessed numerous historical events and has served as a religious, educational and cultural centre over the centuries. One of the most notable aspects of this complex is the legend of the miraculous appearance of a wooden cross at the site, which has made the site an important pilgrimage destination.

Plaza de Armas

  • 1h
Located in the heart of the historic centre, this plaza has been a focal point of social and political life since colonial times. Surrounded by historic buildings, the plaza offers a mix of colonial and modern architecture that reflects Queretaro's rich history. In the centre of the Plaza de Armas is a fountain with a statue of Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, the Marquis of Villa del Villar del Aguila, who was a prominent benefactor of the city. Around the square, you can see important buildings such as the Casa de la Corregidora, which currently serves as the Government Palace, and other stately homes with their characteristic wrought iron balconies.

The Pena of Bernal

  • 2h
Peña de Bernal is known for its imposing monolith that dominates the landscape. This monolith, one of the largest rock formations in the world, is the main attraction of the place and a popular destination for climbers and hikers. The town of Bernal combines its natural wealth with well-preserved colonial architecture. Its cobblestone streets, brightly coloured houses and picturesque plazas create a welcoming atmosphere that attracts visitors from far and wide. The church of San Sebastián Mártir, located in the centre of town, is an outstanding example of the region's religious architecture. In addition to its natural and architectural beauty, Bernal offers a variety of cultural and gastronomic activities. Visitors can enjoy the local cuisine, which includes delicious typical dishes such as corn gorditas and traditional sweets. There are also craft stores selling local products, such as textiles and quarry items.
