What you can expect

  • Immerse yourself in the art of Javanese wayang kulit with a hands-on workshop. Choose between two experiences: painting or carving.

    If you choose the painting experience, learn the art of nyungging. Use a brush to paint the wayang and a bamboo pen to create intricate details. Follow a pattern to create a specific wayang character.

    If you choose the carving experience, learn the art of menatah. Use a chisel, known as a tatah, to carve the wayang. Choose from 20 different blade shapes, each with a unique function, to create your wayang character.
