New Favourite Calgary Hotel

Loved it. First time at this hotel. Kids had a great time in the heated pool. Probably one of the best sleeps we’ve ever had at a hotel. Had a fantastic breakfast the next morning. And picked up some delicious peanut butter cookies. Location is really convenient to everything we had planned to do in Calgary.

First night there a/c and phone didn’t work, had to call on my personal phone to reach hotel staff, had to make multiple trips to the lobby to get towels, soap and shampoo, vending machine on our floor didnt work but charged me twice, tried to cancel and rebook somewhere else the following day, hotel manager said we can cancel but we wont get a refund for the remaining 6 days of our visit, left the room service card on our door and it was ignored by cleaning staff had to complain just to get our room cleaned, buffet was disgusting my wife and I got food poisoning and got sick. Trash in the hallways, cleaning staff completely ignored it walking past it, I had to tell the cleaning staff "Hey there's a rolled up diaper on the floor over there can you get rid of it"

Hotel is good for the price! We only stayed for a couple nights in a standard room, I would recommend if you're staying for awhile, to pay the extra $50 dollars and upgrade to the Premium room. Standard is in the older part which is showing its age. AC unit was quite loud and woke us up when it turned on at night. The bathroom was quite small and crowded. The TV would freeze/glitch or sound was off while watching the Cable channels. The lighting in the room was very dim. The Bed and Pillows in the Standard room were comfy though and at the end of the day that's all that matters! The outdoor hotel pool was great, it was awesome to relax after a long day roaming the city. Complimentary breakfast was a simple buffet but still good. The only complaint with the breakfast was it was a dine in only seated breakfast, where the servers took your drink orders, (only juice and coffee) but food was self serve. Servers still brought a receipt with tipping options. Out of courtesy we tipped a few dollars in cash but was also told when checking out the same amount was charged to our room number. Location was great! Across the street was Krispy Kreme, Mcdonalds, Chick-Fil-A, and short walk to the CF Chinook Centre.

I went for a premium room and let’s just say it would be a regular room at other hotels. Nothing premium about it, stained ceiling tiles in the bathroom, wall paper peeling off. Bathroom was just weird, angled countertop, corner sink, even the light switch was right above the outlet and placed high. For me there are way better choices in Calgary, I’ll opt to drive more than stay here again.

Gym equipment is outdated but like how it’s 24/7. Housekeeping was great. Service for breakfast could be a bit better (my server forgot my drink 3-4 times). Wish there were more sweet options for cereal. Newly renovated ballroom so there was a wedding everyday that we were there so it did get a bit noisy. Very convenient area and near a bunch of restaurants and malls. A bit of outdated TVs but I would stay again.
