When we checked in the property had not been cleaned. When we contacted the owner we were told cleaners would be sent but after two hours no one arrived. We tried to contact the owner but were unsuccessful. We then contacted VRBO who were also unable to contact the owner. After several hours we were informed that no cleaners were available. By this time it was 7pm and were forced to find last minute alternative accommodation. This was a totally unacceptable situation.
Terrible experience â completely misrepresented and unhygienic property
We had an awful stay at this property. Upon arrival, the house had a strong musty smell. The carpets were unhoovered, crumbs everywhere, and the toilet bowl was stained. The porch was full of rubbish, bins were rusty, and beds looked slept in. One pillow had blood stains and the towels smelled damp. The kettle was unusable due to heavy limescale, and the cutlery and pans were too dirty to use. There was no dishwasher despite being advertised, no bin liners or toilet rolls, and several broken cabinets posed safety risks.
The garden was overgrown and inaccessibleânone of this was mentioned in the listing. A curtain was hanging off the rail, and the location is listed as Redbridge but was actually in Gants Hill, 10 minutes from the nearest station.
Worse, roadworks blocked our car on the drive for 3 days. Neighbours had been warned in advance, but we were not. We contacted GuestReady immediately. After multiple chasers, they responded days later and sent a cleaner without noticeânothing was cleaned.
We were forced to eat out for every meal and sleep elsewhere for two nights due to allergies from the dust. We stayed only because we had no other option. This was a deeply disappointing and stressful experience. Avoid unless major changes are made.
