NEW! Ocean View Beach House Steps from the Sand
Charming ocean view beach home, just a few houses to the beach, surf, volleyball, bike path, and only a few blocks to world class restaurants and shopping. Just 10 minutes from LAX, this home is ideally located for an amazing beach vacation or extended stay (2 desks, hi-speed WiFi, plenty of storage included). Work from home with a view! Bring the kids and dog (please send a message if considering bringing a pet) and come enjoy Manhattan Beach, the hidden gem of Los Angeles! This is the second level of a two story duplex, so there are stairs to get up to the unit.
The stay was fine, however, the booking process was horrible. Right after I booked, I messaged the property owner to see if I could extend for 1 day. I was told yes, but was strung along for weeks without them sending an updated reservation confirmation. I repeatedly reached out and was continually told they just hadnât made the update and confirmed in writing through the app that the unit was available for the extension. Ultimately, at the last minute, I was informed that the unit was NOT available for an extension and they would not allow a cancellation with a refund. Donât book here, the decor was cheap, itâs noisy and screens were torn, allowing bugs in.
Unsafe for Families â Misleading Listing with No Accountability
We booked this Manhattan Beach rental for a family of five and our pets, expecting a safe, comfortable beach stay based on the listing. Sadly, our experience was the oppositeâand we ended up immediately leaving and relocating to a Residence Inn.Parking was one of the first red flags. The listing states that parking is included, but it failed to mention that the space is only suitable for a compact car (think Prius). As a family of five traveling in a full-size SUV, we had no way to park on-site. When I reached out for help, the response was to park Ÿ mile away with 2â3 hour parking limits and move the car each timeâimpossible for any normal family, let alone one with kids and pets. The third-floor unit was a furnace. After hauling all our belongings up three flights of stairs, we found the top-floor rental unbearably hot with no ventilation or cross-breeze. The property manager suggested we open the windows and use a fan. That advice was both unhelpful and unsafe. There were three large operable windows in the main living area, each directly above furnitureâa table, a couch, and a chairâcreating a direct fall risk for children. There were no screens, no window guards, no safety devices of any kind, despite being three stories up. Itâs a terrifying setup for families with kids.I honestly canât tell you much more about the amenities or accommodations, because we didnât stay. After seeing how unsafe and impractical the space was, we packed up and checked into a Res
The location is greatâjust a short walk to the beachâand the decor has a nice coastal feel. The host was fairly responsive and provided helpful area tips. The kitchen had enough basics for simple meals. However, the property has serious maintenance issues. The bathtub has a large hollow spot that made it unsafeâmy child nearly slipped. The A/C was broken all weekend, and with many windows missing screens or having torn ones, airflow wasnât a good option. Thereâs also wood rot in the bathroom ceiling, paint overspray on several windows, and a loose overhead kitchen light that felt unsafe. Parking is tight, especially for larger vehicles like my RAM 1500.With better upkeep, this could be a great spot. But for now, improvements are needed before Iâd stay again or recommend it to others.
