The stay here was overall ok, but I wouldn't recommend it. The room wasn't overly clean, but I suppose it could've been worse. The two biggest issues I encountered were: 1) There's essentially no soundproofing - you can hear everything going on outside in the middle of the night. Of course, I know NYC is a loud place, but compared to other hotels in the same area, it's much louder. 2) Despite the stated smoke-free policy, the room below was smoking a lot, and it kept coming up into my room for all 3 nights I was there. As someone with allergies, who looks specifically for smoke-free locations, this was extremely disappointing.

Overall, pretty decent. Good location, good breakfast, ok rooms. Fixtures were broken for the bathroom, you can see the shelf leaning and the holes next to it where it was repaired once already, sheet rock still exposed. Wall next to bed had torn wallpaper from the stair next to it. Many spot patches on wallpaper, and oddly just white plaster ones, really looked old. Staff was great, helpful, did all they could to make up for it. 4 nights in a row and two morning the fire alarm for the whole floor went off. All because one person on the floor continued to take a very hot shower and set off the alarm with steam. Pretty sure you need better detectors if that's what sets it off. So yea, 1030pm or later without fail I would walk 17 floors down to be told again, false alarm. They couldn't credit me because I booked through Expedia, which I think is false but whatever. Might return, might not. Plenty of other properties in the same block to pick from

We arrived and the hotel was flooding on the bottom floor, then we had brown water coming out of the faucet. the icing on the cake was that there was no hot water to shower in. It was terrible.

Good location near Bryant Park and Empire State Building, with a decent free breakfast. However, the hotel itself was not in great condition. Wallpaper peeling, furniture scuffed, towel rack hanging off the wall. The remote control for the thermostat did not work. Maintenance came to look at it twice; the first time the heater ran nonstop; the second time the heat stayed on for a few hours but then shut off completely and would not come on at all (which is a problem in January). I ended up taking the front panel off the entire heating system and pulling the unit away from the wall so I could access the controls manually. Not what I want to deal with while on vacation!

Stayed here in between Christmas and New Years. At $800 per night I expected more. Place is fine. When we arrived our rooms deadbolt didn’t work (looked like someone broke into the room with a large screw driver or crowbar), so we had to call the front desk. The “Front desk” button on the room phone DOES NOT get you the front desk at the hotel, it brings you to Mariott’s customer service center (nightmare), I couldn’t understand a thing the woman was saying to me. Anyway after a walk down to the front desk a couple Service guys came and fixed it quickly, no complaints there, very nice. The room is nothing fancy, 2 beds and just enough space to walk around each one, that’s it. Bathroom was good size for Manhattan but the wallpaper was coming off the wall, the grout in the shower tile was super dirty. For $125 a night I’d say this place would be great, at $800 not so much. Close to Bryant Park (3) 3 blocks about 8 min walk. Elevators at times would take 5 minutes to stop empty enough to actually get into. All in all this is a 3/5 at best. But it’s NYC….
