There was a broken shade in room. There also was dresser in the handicap room just a small cupboard with pull out wire draws.

Our room was a handicapped room (which we had not requested) with a door that was difficult to open and close it stuck so tightly it was extremely hard to manage. The blind/shade had a broken adjusting cord and had a large paper clamp on it which you had to use to hold up one side of the blind/shade to get any view/light from the window. 2nd floor room was very noisy and bathroom had stains on the commode and on wall next to commode. Have stayed at the hotel many times over the years when visiting family on Staten Island. Always satisfied but this time got a bad room or it’s had a lot of delayed maintenance since my last visit 2 1/2 years ago. Free shuttle is great.

Dont plan on shuttle

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: More shuttles available, or better management of current fleet.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Only complaint is shuttles are not readily available to ferry or airport. That means taxi fares nearly cancel savings versus just staying closer to Manhattan.

The staff made me feel welcomed.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close, restaurant in the hilton gardens was expensive!
Although, I thought that the service was friendly, there were some areas that needed improvement. Such as one shower door was not operating smoothly and the door handle/railing was broken, and the soap scum (black) that had accumulated under the shower doors was flaking while showering (I spent some time c leaning it off while in the shower). The elevator call button area was always soiled; the business office computer key board were dirty (I also had to asked for a cloth to clean it), one of the staff members joined me in cleaning off the other key board. The ventalation system in the room bathroom was quite dusty, and I informed the front desk before I left. They missed cleaning my room once while I was out, but once I alerted the front desk, someone came in immediately to make the bed, the sheets were not replaced because the cleaning staff were gone for the day. "You wanted to know, so I informed you".

This hotel offered about the degree of comfort I would expect for the price paid.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
Although the hotel was clean and very well priced, I felt that the hotel desperately needs renovating. I have stayed at other Hampton Inns that were much more modern and comfortable and expected the same level of quality. The room was exceptionally large, but designed for a wheelchair bound person as was the room of my traveling companion. The carpet was old and the hotel had that musty smell of a hotel in dire need of updating. The staff were friendly.

hidden fee

Hampton Inn charged a $* "room occupancy fee" in addition to the room rate and taxes. This fee was never disclosed when I booked the room, and is thus a hidden fee. If Hampton Inn needed the extra money, it should have included it as part of the room rate.

Great new hotel!

Brand spanking new hotel - the only problem I had was a slight wiff of "new carpe" odor. Of course, the location can be out of the way, as it is by the SI Teleport, but you can jump on the Expressway easily. The staff is very helpful, the room was a large suite and the most comfortable bed. I did not use the pool or gym but they both looked spotless. Business Center has high speed computer, is just a little cramped but has everything you need.
