This place was advertised as a house for rent. What it was, was a run down apartment building that was vacant. Upon arrival, I wasnât sure if I was supposed to be in a particular one of the units or not. It was very disconcerting not knowing if I would be walking into someoneâs living space. However, I went into unit one to find it empty and clean. I called the property owner and was told the entire building was at my disposal. That was the end of the positive experience. The first night was OK, but a little uncomfortable. I often heard voices and funny noises. I chalked it up to being an old house. In bed that night I heard pots and pans banging and other odd sounds. Needless to say I got very little sleep that night. The next morning, I went to take a shower and found two dirty towels, used body wash, and when I turned the shower on, water sprayed everywhere due to the showerhead not being screwed on all the way. I let it go and went about my day outside of the apartment. Later that evening, I was watching TV and saw something out of the corner of my eye. It turns out the funny noises in the wall, and the pots banging together were likely due to a mouse infestation. I tried contacting the property owner and ended up getting a voicemail. They had a number indicated in a plaque on the wall that was for emergencies. I called that number and once again, only voicemail. I contacted Hotels.com and found an actual hotel for a third of the cost. Not sure if I will get money back.
The manager was easy to contact when door code didnât work. The unit was well equipped, spotless and roomy. Nice to stay in an apartment instead of a motel while on a cross country road trip.
I stayed here with 4 adults and 2 kids, we booked the 5 bedroom. I was a little confused upon arrival as I assumed we would be in one unit. We actually had two units, one was a 3/1 upstairs (with kitchen) and the other was downstairs with a 2/2. It took a few communications back and forth for me to get through my misunderstanding/miscommunication, but after I understood all was well. I assume when booking for the seven bedroom you would have the entire house with all three units, which would be fun for a large family vacation. We had parking in the driveway, plenty of room, place was clean. Upstairs was traditional, downstairs was more contemporary, nice variety. We were close to Niagara State Park and the area, but not quite close enough to walk with the kids. Drive took about 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. Neighborhood was ok, but in general the Canada side of the falls is nicer. The nearby state park is beautiful though, with lots of touristy places surrounding it that provides places to eat, etc. Communication with host was informative, I received several emails leading up to our stay, then texts when I got the door code, explanation about the units, etc. I would stay here again.
